Good question, but in this concept art he looks more like a noble elder.

Pan as a trickster is only one version of his legend. He is often known as very wise and one with nature.

Well, I was referring more so to his... promiscuity, which is arguably his most known aspect.
I mean he can still be intelligent I guess, but it just kinda conflicts with his popular portrayal. Of course, that's probably a good thing considering how people are nagging how LoS rips from everything, ha. Something original!

Hey, no disrespect to LoS, but the previous batch of screens with the zombies were cooler than this new batch of screens. The gaming community (outside this site) is starting to say things like Dante's Inferno and GoW3 with LoS. I don't mind big bosses, but do they have to have/show/hype so many humanoid giants? Having played through the new 3D Bionic Commando (I'm not talking about 'Rearmed'), I know that a change of aesthetic can work with a classic series...but if this is going to be a "each major area has a themed giant to slay" deal on the way to a Lord of Shadow, that's not very wise. (so far we've got the ogre, the ice titan, the stone lady, and perhaps a tree-based titan as well if the concept artwork stands). Yes, giants show off graphical power...but they become redundant and having so many, so prominently is going to draw inevitable comparisons which may turn the brand "Castlevania" into a modern also-ran.

I think in Pan's labyrinth he was just a faun and not necessarily the god pan.

You have a bingo.

In the commentary, the director says over and over again that he does not want the audience to think that the faun in the movie is Pan; he said that doing so would be extremely dangerous; the american title is a name not chosen by the director.

Good point about the intention in the movie, but Cox may have taken inspiration of it's visage, still..

I'm thinking you missed the part about there only being 4 titans in the game and that the Ice Titan is the smallest.
Also, none of the games that people are claiming that LoS ripped own the concept of a titanic boss creature.
Do the GoW lovers need to be reminded that SoC did titanic bosses first.
And while I'm on the subject, why the hell do ppl keep talking about the titanic GoW bosses like that's the only thing in that game.
GoW's enemies and bosses run a huge gambit of sizes it's just that GoW is boxed into Greek mythology where as LoS doesn't.

It's really quite true. I mean, games used daggers and axes before Castlevania. Indiana Jones was using a whip long before Simon Belmont. Heck, Dracula is probably the biggest rip-off ever, and nobody complains about that.
It has to do with how the features are used, not what they are or who had them first. Castlevania was the first to do a few things, like a monster mash, but all those monsters were taken from something else. Even the idea of bottomless pits and stiff jumping controls could be argued to have be ripped from Pitfall.

Dude I totally agree with what you said, and I still get angry about it all is to GoW. The staff does not understand that the worlds are completely different, where one enters the Castlevania gothic world and God of War for Greek mythology. Titans from God of War, would have to be compared to the Ice and Fire Giants from Norse mythology, who were huge like that, that's what is most annoying. Comparisons unreasonable, you have no way to compare for exemple, a movie of thriller with a fiction film because they are not the same thing. We are NOT talking about the same world. What I do not see them say is that GoW was a copy of Pitfall, Prince of Persia and Rygar.

There's supposedly 4 Titans. We've seen 2 of them: Ice and Stone. Any guesses as to what the other 2 are? I would imagine there might be a Flame/Fire Titan, which would be fucking badass! What about the 4th?

I DO think it was planned to show the titans, and I kinda think it was a move with hopes to appealing to the GoW crowd. I mean, you gotta think of it like this, there are four titans, and they basically already showed two of them. What about most of the other non-titan bosses. We haven't really seen that Karusaman-bird creature since one of the earlier trailers, nor many other bosses(it's kinda hard to distinguish some of the bosses from some of the enemies, because there ARE some big ass enemies). Maybe that ogre we've seen, is a boss(non-titan boss), but I can't recall any others. Most of the others monsters we've seen so far seem to be normal enemies. Of course, i'm not asking to see EVERY single boss, but choosing to release the pictures of the titans DOES seem to be like them trying to play off the GoW comparisons. And while there will be a few who say, "Ah, it's copying GoW!!", I think there might be MORE who say, "Cool, big, awesome looking monsters.... just like GoW..... I MUST BUY THIS GAME!!".

Thunderbrand:
Man, I do not know exactly where I saw and do not want to say for sure, but I saw something somewhere that referred to the LoS, and there was a titan who reminded me a little Treant from DoS.
It was the kind of plant, and had people talking about what looked like Gaia from GoW. I do not know, and I would not say anything.

DragonSlayr81: Dude you said something right, instead of pointing people just get all the games and seeing defects, saying only that it was in GoW, and the game was better at it and what, this and that and this game was not perfect, would be better for people to see what is good in the game that would make them buy. If there was something good in this game the Gow reminded, great. Then buy the game, now there are people who only comes to speak ill of the game ... And we detail in the forum Castlevania appropriate and on topic, why not create a forum for Gow with a topic: "Speaking well of GoW or, Kratos the supreme and only there that just talk?"
