well if that hooded guy is Necromancer then I can count on not Death, they never appeared in the same game as far as I know, and personally I like Death more. being a servant of Dracula and reaper of souls and all.

is this thread going to change into spoiler fest once the game get's released?
My culture taught me that women are flowers to be protected and pure creatures, we are to be gentlemen and serve them. but you know what? they're *ssholes just like everybody else!

Castlevania: DraculaXX (SNES) on the regular (you fell off the pillars) Caverns/Swamp Stage:

ALL OF MY HATE

I love Dracula X but I absolutely despise it at the same time, it's so goddamn hard

Anyway as for Death, I'm expecting him to look like this

Doesn't need a stylization or anything, the skeleton in the robe with the scythe is so iconic at this point, it also works very well for Castlevania period. I think Death looked his best in SCIV, I dunno why but I loved his sprite so much in that game.

In fact, Death is probably one of my favorite bosses/villains in this series. You can't have a Castlevania game without him.

The Official Xbox Magazine has printed its Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow review - and given the game a whopping 9/10.

The news comes after both GamesMaster and Xbox World 360 also gave the Mercury Steam title review scores in excess of 90%.

OXM reviewer Jon Blyth writes: 'Lords Of Shadow is big. Actually, big's too little a word. It's monolithic... From the Resi 4 mood of the scarecrow puzzle to the unexpected oddity of the music box level, this is game that seemingly hasn't heard of DLC - and decides to offer you immense value for money instead.'

OXM calls the game 'huge and magnificent', pouring particular praise on its 'vast imagination' and 'ambitious scope'.

There are a couple of niggles, not least that LOS 'sometimes fails to effectively communicate where you should be going' - a bit of pain in a game whose campaign reportedly weighs in at 20-plus hours.

However, that doesn't stop OXM from calling LOS 'a huge and stylish collision of influences' - including God Of War, Shadow Of The Colossus and Pan's Labyrinth.

Tellingly, the game is labeled it 'an epic and slightly unexpected triumph'.

Is OXM even that reliable? I've never paid attention to them before but some people tell me they're not that great to seek opinions from on purchases.

The wait is really killing me. Come on September 28th!

Also, the only reason I would get the strategy guide, is just so that I can have it. I wouldn't use it, but I'd sure as Hell read it after beating the game or something. LOL.

Ditto here. I also like the ones that include nice artwork, or bonus notes and interviews.

I'm glad it got another 9...but I'd actually like to know what American reviewers are going to give it. It won't matter since I'm buying (and have prepaid for) the game anyway, but I'm just curious. XD No offense to anyone from the UK.

In CLOS, we have areas that cannot be reached at that point, but with the addition of, say, double-jumps, they can. In terms of combat, the newer moves are essential as the range of adversaries is constantly evolving and their AI is sharpening all the time. We also use it to vary up the combat elements, as we were conscious that combat stages can descend into just button pressing stages. Everything in CLOS is there for a reason and hones the gameplay.

Ok guys, lte's go scan hunting  8)

Both OXM and GamesTM (UK?) reached suscriber's hands today, OXM as you know gave it a 9, GamesTM gave it  a 8 however in a supossedly praising review (But they gave a 9 to Hale Reach... *sigh* here we go again shooter generation...). So if you can get the magazine or we find it on the net, put it here!!  ;D

Everything comes full circle

I thought they gave Halo an 8.5 or something? And CV got a 8.3.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

I didn't watch, but I listened to the Kojima version of the trailer from TGS, and that was pretty intense. I have the say, the main theme music for this game with the rising, staccato strings is really catchy. I like how Cox, in a recent interview, stated that there can be different Castlevanias, just like there are different versions of superheroes in comic books. I think that philosophy will best serve the series, as it's the kind of thinking that gave us such variety in Castlevania's first decade-and-a-half. You have to serve the gameplay and the atmosphere over the story, IMO. Another thing I thought was considerate is how Cox prefers the Classicvania style, but included the optional backtracking elements so the Metroidvania fans wouldn't be left out. Nice balance, in theory.

The idea of there being multile universes, each different, yet existing together, is something I've always been a fan of, as well. But sadly, to a lot of people, it seems that's dangerous thinking. They either want one or the other, becaues it's too confusing to try to think about more than one. They think that when you reboot something, you HAVE to kill the classic series just so the rebooted one can exist, less you want to confuse kids who jump in during the reboot, then start asking questions about how Symphony of the Night relate to it.
