I still have mixed feelings towards LoS i had such high hopes but I think it just left a bitter taste even now since there isnt a 25th special planned
Yeah, me too. Which isn't to say that the game didn't have good parts. I just hope the sequel amplifies the good parts as a lot of the bad parts are just trends of modern gaming that I fucking hate, but game developers can't get enough of (wall shimmying, way too many QTEs, music with the complexity of an amoeba, trying to be high fantasy to the point of making up some lame ass civilization no one cares about and seldom if ever referring to historical events at all). Rather than feeling truly unique, the game feels like bits of other games haphazardly sewn together, which wouldn't be too bad except that none of the elements are very engaging or well designed on their own.
The good parts were fucking amazing, though. I loved the atmosphere of Veros Woods, pretty much all of the Castle, the music box, the scarecrow puzzle, and a lot of the undead-type enemies were jaw dropping... MercurySteam does have a lot of potential. I think they just need some more focus, and I'll grant that this game was not a bad first try. With some refinement, less focus on cinematography/graphics (except, I might say, focus way more on the Gothic horror aspect and throwing the LotR shit to the wolves) and more on polishing the gameplay (read: abolish QTEs except maybe the matching circle ones), the sequel could shine much more. I'd love for these guys to make an XBLA Castlevania ala BC: Rearmed.
