As the clocktower was in Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness in 3D, and should have been hence.
...Back to Lament's trailer, they did show a few platforming things to throw us off, like that room where the wall pieces come out and you have to jump up higher and higher. But yeah, that was a sad rarity in the game. LoS looks far more serious about platforming...though time will tell if it's as serious as Castlevania 64 was about 3D platforming. As someone pointed out, the balancing on the platforms looks a little too Prince of Persia. I mean, does the character really have to hold out their arms like a trapeze artist? lol. By the way, that LoS area with the water and stone heads looks more South/Central American or Chinese than Greco-Roman in aesthetic, IMO.
The idea of a fixed camera is good for scale, but sometimes the forced camera angles can make you feel distant, almost like in a 2.5-D or isometric game.
I remain cautiously optimistic, and think I should probably not look at too much more media.
