This thread is outragious! I have absolutly no idea of how much more you all can carry this thing out! I think that this thread should make the internet Guiness book of world records for the longest ongoing thread about a sinlge subject. If LoS has this much enthusiasim then it'll be a good playthrough.  :)

The 2nd incarnation of this forum actually had a 300-ish page roleplay thread about CV64's Villa stage.

I remember that thread. Good times..

Unfortunately this thread isn't close to making the internet world records, I've seen topics that stretch way longer

This is great stuff lads.  Thing that strikes me most is the ambience and atmosphere.  There's a great attention to detail in the surroundings and the background, we've got destructable candelabras, barrels.  Hallways, stairwells, moving platforms, whip swinging.  Swirling smoke, shadows, lightning and fire effects look amazing.  The engine looks to be working very well indeed.

Camera struck me as working remarkably well too.  Some of those beams you've got to balance and traverse over look to be at odd angles onscreen, but perhaps that's a clever way of adding a bit of difficulty.  Platforming in the clock tower looked very Prince of Persia, but I think the whip grappling and swinging works well and adds another dimension to it.  Love with the whip, that you can swing out from a vertical wall.  I agree with OSM that the clock tower looked a bit slow to begin with, but we've got death pits and some consequential platforming: thought required to nagivate/advance so I'm all for it.

We've now seen combat in the mix of roaming around, and that's vastly reassuring.  This game is going to be legendary for the series.

The clocktower segement looked slow because the person playing it was taking his sweet time while demonstrating in front of an audience, any one of us on a normal day could speed right on through.

I'm not sure if I like the over use of slowly moving across the edges of things. It looks slow and dull. The combat looks pretty interesting though.

I suppose I can say Cox won my dollar. It looks good enough for me to purchase.

Did anybody else notice how fantastic the clocktower music was, and it went especially well with the sound effects of the cogs and the lightning.

You know what I just remembered? Slogra and Gaibon are going to be in this game, imagine how awesome fighting those two is going to be. Still crossing my fingers to hear this while we fight those two and Death.

I really love the magic system, being able to light your whip on fire screamed Simon's Quest to me. I'm also definitely happy there is a lot of dodging involved in the combat so it's not a button masher, makes it a lot more interesting and forces you to pay attention.

I love how the camera works during boss battles. Both the butcher and the giant wolf had the camera following the boss around, rather than Gabriel, or even worse; locked in a fixed angle of the room. It all looks very good!

I wonder what castle he's exploring in these new gameplay videos? I don't think it's THE castle, though the clock tower scene COULD possibly be from the real castle, or maybe it's just a random clock tower? We all expect the clock tower to be towards the end of the game, but it doesn't have to be like that. In Castlevania 3 it was stage 2. I doubt Konami would be showing off the final stages in this game, so I don't think these stages are very far into the game..

I think it's one of the connecting towers to the main tower of the castle, in the new trailer we see 4 towers interconnected to one central hub. Dracula is probably in the center.

I think the best part about all this is the fact that the level design isn't bad or repetitive.

For once you don't see the next room looking like the previous and it's got design not just a box...hall ...box.

The music in the clocktower is very classical, strings that are eerily beautiful, I dig it a lot..Not electric guitar overpowered energy. Very appropriate music for the setting.

I think this has to take place in the later stages of the game because the castle is in the later stages of the game, the prior areas take place outside.

Kinda sad that the clock tower doesn't have enemies trying to knock you off or medusa heads but its all cool. This looks exactly how I imagined a 3d castlevania to be I'm glad IGA isn't a charge, thanks David Cox.

I really like the seeming versatility of the magic system, but I'm not sure how much I like how he bursts into blue/red flames. Aesthetically it's a bit...off?

I could barely hear anything. :/

Can't really hear anything after 2:10, but I really like how eerily haunting the music is. It's really nothing like the trailer music.

I'm wondering, how exactly does the death mechanic work? Are there no game overs at all? Do you simply restart at the checkpoint forever?

Probably not. In the E3 demo, once you lose all your health it goes back to the beginning of the event.
