If that was the case, I'm glad Kojima changed it.

Well, I'm not. I'd much prefer bare brawn over uh, silver gauntlet with talons and stuff.

This just in:  I just finished this game.

There, now I can read about it without worrying about spoilers, whew.  I only have 100 some pages of this thread to catch up on now.  Too bad most of the critical details were already spoiled for me anyways, but there was still plenty of moments in the game that caught me off guard and got a reaction out of me I wouldn't have gotten if I hadn't tried my best to avoid spoilers.

Finished the game just in time for the DLC to come out.

I have mixed feelings about the game, but yeah, I did like it.  I have great respect for everything they did in the game, but would not really approve of this being the "new" direction for Castlevania.  I don't mind if they make a sequel or two, just as long as it is "limited".  As long as it's limited, which I believe it will be, and doesn't prevent a new 3D game based on the Japanese versions of the game from "ever" coming out, I can revel in it all and really appreciate this new vision of Castlevania.  The game is quite the experience and I'll need to take some time to reflect on everything that I went through while playing the game.  Overall, I think I enjoyed playing Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness more.  I didn't find the combat in LoS as "satisfying" as the other games.  I was able to get away with doing the same attacks over and over again, but as I try playing the harder modes and am forced to get better at utilizing the many combat options available in the game, may start appreciating it more.

The combat only get worse in harder modes :-X It's gets boring because the only thing they did to make it harder is making the enemies with infinite HP, the fights becames soooo long and boring

That's one of the only things I hated about the game.  The enemies had way too much health.  Especially the skeletons.  I mean usually skeleton enemies in castlevania games, except for blood skeletons, are among the weakest enemies.

oh?  so they don't give you extra damage when they hit you?  one of my gripes about Lament of Innocence was that there was normal mode and crazy mode, but nothing in between (I found Crazy mode too taxing to keep playing).  at least LoS gives you more options, unfortunately, at the expense of any "real" differences though.

even if that's all there is, i'm looking forward to the harder levels.  i usually enjoy replays more than the first playthroughs, as I know what to expect and can feel free to dawdle without that impulse to "just get to the next stage".  the extra HP should let me practice a variety of moves on them before they break, so i can do thing like try to keep my concentration meter up, fully utilize dark/light magic combat and subweapons without feeling the need to hoard it because I never know if i'm gonna really need it in the next part.

Hmm...? Too much health? All the small enemies die a single throw, you can beat most of the enemies with 3 or 5 hits of the Hard Combo, except for for the big ones and boss fights, actually the difference between Knight and Paladin is just the damage you receive from the enemies... If you finished Knight, you already know the enemies' tactics and you're used to the combat system and controls, then Paladin is a piece of cake, also you'll have all your upgrades from last walkthrogh... Skeleton Warriors?... Except for 2 places there are always Crystals near, can't be more easy...

I just beat all the trials and got 110% on every level. Some of those trials were ridiculous like the one where you have to destroy 100 objects before the time runs out. Surprisingly the final boss trial was really easy, and yes, that one and all the rest were finished on paladin mode. I'm glad I got them done before Reverie came out, I can't wait to play that and the trials!
What a horrible night to have a curse!
