I liked LoS.  It's a great fantasy/adventure game.  The combat system works well with the exception of QTEs and the titan battles.  It's just that it didn't really seem like a CV to me.

Thats exactly how I feel aswell.

LOS is NOT a horrible game in my honest opinion and is infact a pretty good fantasy/adventure game (minus the lame story twists) with great combat and beautiful graphics.

It just did not meet my "castlevania needs" so to speak.

The same could be said of Resident Evil 4. I LOVED RE4 as a game but just did not feel it captured what I would expect in your typical RE game which is the same thing LOS has done in my honest opinion.

From what I've heard, the new RE is just a full release of the Mercenaries sidegame. But yeah, RE5 was such a letdown. No improvements except for co-op (scratch that, I hear it sucked if you played with a CPU partner), and the last half hour or so jumped the shark so friggin' hard. I wish Shinji Mikami stayed around.

Actually Capcom is making 2 RE games for the 3DS. One is Mercenaries and the other is Revelations, a new game that takes place on a cruise ship. That one is actually dark, claustrophobic, and much more in keeping with the older games while retaining the perspective and aiming from 4 and 5.

Really?? Crazy. I'll probably check the second one out, then. But after RE5, I'm not really holding my breath.

It IS still in the minority though. the majority of the Metroid fanbase in fact, are now bitching about Other M, and how Prime was "sooo much better."

I think the original Prime was really something truly unique. It brought Metroid to 3D perfectly- as well as it's atmosphere. loneliness.

2 messed that up with the annoying dual world gameplay, and 3.. while fun to play, rather killed the atmosphere that made 1 and 2 so unique.

My sentiments exactly. The first MP was absolutely phenomenal. I loved how every room was different, loved how each room had it's own things going on.  It was a great game for just sitting back and exploring, admiring the overwhelming amount of detail. Boss battles were done really well too. The final Prime battle really felt like an old school 2D battle brought into the third dimension. And the Chozo statues were pretty much how I'd imagined them as a kid.

Then Prime 2 came along. While I enjoyed the scanning in the first game, Prime 2 kicked it up a few notches. I felt that at times I couldn't walk 5 feet w/o having to scan something. I too disliked the light/dark worlds. If they wanted to do something wherein some of the boss battles took place in a dark dimension, fine. Making it half the game, bad idea. But what I hated most about MP2, what really got my goat (and choked it), can be summed up in one word.

Ammo.

Yes, missiles (and super-bombs) use ammo, but that's it. Using cool different beams at will (once acquired), is one of the hallmarks of the series. W/o it, I ended up using the boring old blaster for the majority of the game. Got REALLY boring.  About half way through the game it started to really piss me off. Prime 1 had weapon usage and acquisition down pat. Prime 2 pooped in our pastries in this department. Some of the weapons were cool, but the very limited ammo for them until almost the end of the game pretty much blew the neighbors dog.

Loved the Light Suit design though, and some of the bosses were great. Enemies were interesting too, and the screw attack looked great. Would have liked to be able to use it al will though.

Still haven't played Prime 3. One of these days perhaps, when I' finally get a Wii.

If you loved prime 1, you'll love prime 3. The limited beam system was done away with in favor of them being infinite again as well each beam having different use's per upgrade. ex; welding circuit panels with the plasma beam. Power bombs however were replaced by calling your gunship to perform an air raid which is just as sweet. The wii controls fit the game like a glove making it even more emersive, also, using Samus's ship to travel back and forth from planet to planet ups the whole experience too. I bought a wii specifically for the MP trilogy and it was worth every penny. Prime 1 & 2 with wii controls = ownage.

Although this isn't the thread about Metroid Prime, I agree with the points above.  And yeah while II is the low point of the Prime games, it has its charms.  1 and 3 are damn awesome though.  3 is great 'cuz of the new controls but if you get the Trilogy (which is a BARGAIN), then you get Wii controls in all games.  Awesome.

Damn, guys.

Did Reverie even hit XBLA yet? I don't give a shit about it anymore but it's been way past overdue.

Haven't checked in a few days, but yesterday when I checked Cox's twitter he had yet to announce anything, so probably not.

I think I saw him tweet earlier this week (or maybe late last week) that it was just submitted to Microsoft.

If you loved prime 1, you'll love prime 3.
I disagree.  I think Prime is one of the best Metroids, and Prime 3 is one of the worst.  Prime 3's areas seemed bland and underdeveloped.  What was the deal with making an ice world that's all of three rooms big?  Half of the explorable territory on that planet should have been ice.  Even at that, the Bryyo Ice area was just shameless fanservice as a throwback to Phendrana, complete with similar music.  And all this buildup to having a Mother Brain appearance (with the Aurora units that were obvious hints to her origin) was completely wasted.

The first third of Prime 2 had a similar problem with bland environments, but the Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress saved it.  I like Prime 2 a lot, but it's not as good as Prime.

I don't mean to keep talking about Metroid in a CV topic...perhaps this should be cut&pasted into a new thread?

Sorry for getting off topic Jorge and I agree with PFG that a MP topic would be cool.  :)

I hope Reverie hits Xbl soon because some of my friends are hassling me to play it on my PS3. Meanwhile I haven't even had time to do the trials yet, save for the first and working on the spike trap wall which I'm thinking was a down right bad idea for a trial. Talk about frustrating... Still working on it... I think if I had any quams with Reverie it'd be the trials.  :-\

Just a heads up for all you 360 players. Cox tweeted this morning that there will be an announcement regarding Reverie later today. Lets hope you finally get your DLC.....if your still waiting for it, that is.

According to Cox's twitter, Reverie will be out for XBL and PSN in all regions, NEXT WEEK.

Considering the track record, I'd say it'll probably pop up sometime next Saturday night, between 11:55pm and 11:59pm. So still technically next week.

Part of me still wants to play this, but at this point, I feel it's just not worth $10.  Especially since I'm on a limited budget, and there are other games that I could get for 800msp.  The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile which I highly recommend if you're looking for a gory 2D bloodfest, comes to mind.  Outland is another, releases April 27th.  I'd rather buy 2 new games, than 1 new game and an add-on that will only last me a few hours at most and 90% made up of puzzles in a freaking action game.

I don't get what Microsofts problem is. They also had problems with Harmony of Despair DLC which delayed those for awhile at the beginning.
