I'm a bit late to the last page or two or so, but if I see people talking about 'butthurt' and adding image macros for stupid arguments like what I saw, I'm gonna ban 'em without warning.

Just pointing that out to fellows like Vampire Killer.  Try and keep it clean, will ya?

Sorry Jorge, I just though it was lame of someone to automatically assume butthurt, just because of a disseverance of opinion (or because of my statement about the wall-o-text, not sure which one it was). Posting the douche pic was a wee bit douche'y of me though, I suppose.

Honestly, I was really just trying to be funny about the whole thing. I forget sometimes that people over the internet are prone to take things negatively, or as an attack. Or maybe it's my sarcastic sense of humor?

Probably :-\

about the whole 'Belmont turns into Dracula' thing,

I've said this before several pages ago, but I think it would've been better plot-wise if Gabriel was just known as his first name throughout the game & not even mention the name Belmont (and if i recall correctly, from '08 to mid or late '09, he was still only known as Gabriel until Cox made his Twitter and confirmed he's a Belmont). I would've put the Cronqvist lineage tidbit in the hidden scrolls, so the player would gradually assume something isn't quite right with him, despite him being an unconfirmed Belmont in the player's eyes. I think the epilogue would've probably made more sense that way, but whatever.

It's gonna take some clever storytelling to reveal where & when the true Belmonts come into play (amongst other things), and from the way the story has been progressing so far, i'm very much skeptical, yet curious.

Everything about your point is correct except this. The "Castlevania" part was removed from the initial trailer to stop the game from upstaging the current release of CV at the time. That game being Judgment.
Ah right. slipped my mind.

So... can we blame Judgement for certain LoS gripes now, then?

All them shenanigans were caused by Judgement, and we all know what a powerhouse hit that turned out to be.

Yknow... This is something I can actually get behind. Its true. I mean, Naming him belmont so far really hasnt done anything more than to make him a Belmont expy of CV 2 Simon, and explain why he uses a whip. (and to have Satan shout "DIE BELMONT!" in true Dracula fashion) Not giving him a last name, but implying he might be a Belmont, and then suggesting he might actually be a Cronqvist bastard child, would have made certain story twists much more enjoyable. (and mysterious)

I agree. That simple change would have made a huge difference in the way us gripey fans view the story.
It would jive better with the old canon, and the new players Konami is sooo desperate to seduce wouldn't have given a rat's ass anyway.
They could have retold the old canon with more flesh and the new players wouldn't know the difference until they go play the old games. And most casual gamers won't bother doing that anyway.

That's assuming there are going to be other Belmonts. It seems pretty obvious to me they are staging Dracula to be some kind off anti-hero. It's funny how people are so unwilling to accept this.  :)

20 pages late, but IMO, LoS is more of a CV game than the Pachislots. Who cares about a money game with only cutscenes? Plus, it makes Dracula come back every f*cking year.

And I really don't understand why people are still bashing LoS' plot, meaning why Gabriel became Dracula. In AoS, for example, which may be one of the best CV so far (at least the best on GBA IMO), the storyline has been completely changed: Soma = reincarnation of Dracula = WTF at first? But the storyline eveolved and people accepted it.

LoS is a great CV game, and as it is set in a DIFFERENT timeline, I really don't understand why people are still bitching on it.

If you wanna know why people are bashing the plot, then maybe you should've read those past 20 pages hmm?

Maybe it's cuz a Belmont became Dracula? You know, the Belmonts. The guys we came to know and love as Dracula's mortal enemy. That was the problem there.

And about Gabriel, what relevance does the name "Belmont" have to do with him at all? If he wasn't a Belmont, then it wouldn't have been as bashed of an idea.

Actually, it never bothered me, as we are in a different timeline. If LoS was set in the "regular" timeline, that'd be a problem. And I find the idea of the hero becoming the true evil is pretty cool.

And Gabriel only took the name Belmont, I'm sure his real name is Gabriel Cronqvist, or even Mathias Cronqvist.

I just wish they laid out his past better in so far as how Zobek not only was able to possess him, but then erase his memory. I guess the devil mask is a terrible thing.

And about what was mentioned a few posts above, about how the LoS sequel will probably not even contain a Belmont but will instead have Dracula as the anti-hero, good call. I was thinking about that very thing earlier today. I'm guessing Gabula will play and look akin Alucard. Though, who knows. Maybe hell use the Alucard Spear as his main weapon.

I definitely wouldn't mind this.

The thing that concerns me is the premise of the sequel. If we are already the supremely powerful Dracula with the castle under our control what would be left to do, other than fight Satan? I want to explore more of the castle  :'(

Thats quite different. that basically established that the belmonts finally defeated him, but then, fate took a spin on the ol' "Dracula resurrection" and  reincarnated him into a completely different person, who still holds Dracula's most important power.

people dislike Gabe becoming Dracula because its making  a Belmont into Dracula.

(though not as many people seem to mind Legends making Trevor into "Trevor Belmont Tepes")

I thought it was an odd choice at first, but Trevor being Alucard's offspring is indirect and doesn't make a Belmont into Dracula.
For me it's more poetic to have Dracula be partially responsible for the Belmonts having greater power with which to defeat him. Goes back to the tragic nature of the character. Like maybe he allowed it to happen because shit went sour already and subconsciously wanted to be set free some day. Or he allowed it to happen hoping it would give him some measure of power over the Belmonts.

Imagine the fight between Julius and Drac and all of a sudden Drac just commands him to stop. And to Julius' dismay he does, soon finding out how he actually shares Dracula's blood. Then he somehow overcomes that and pwns Drac through sheer force of will. Epic!

Thats a bit cliche though. (not like CV is unknown to them lol)

the "we share the same blood i can control you!".
I mean, Shadow the hedgehog did that practically word for word.
