Re-using sprites doesn't bother me much because it doesn't take away from the fun of the games. It would be nice to see a game that doesn't re-use the same, but its not like I'm going to bitch about it if they don't. I think harmony of despair sounds like a fun game, I don't care about the graphics. I'm just disapointed cause its not coming to the ps3
What a horrible night to have a curse!

You'd rather risk this series being all updated graphics and being something too different and out of place  like Resident Evil and Bionic Commando nowadays?
Yes.
I don't want the games to all feel the same. I mean all the games from NES to GBA had different graphics yet shared similar moods. Doesn't seem like that much of a strain on development! Who cares about quantity when quality is being smacked around worst than in OoE?

Though the whole thing with re-using sprites that really nags me is that they're using them shoddily and creating an inconsistent graphical mess. If they reused graphics like in SOTN, where they actually bothered to edit some of the X68 CV's sprites to fit in with the RoB style ones, I'd be totally fine with it.

Dual Crush team combos will be so exciting!   ;D

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/castlevania-harmony-of-despair/achievements/

Discussions have surfaced noting the icon for Grim Synergy hints at team combination moves!  Alucard and Soma are seen linking swords for what may be a unique team attack!  There may be more hidden in Harmony of Despair!   Alucard and Soma never had a team special attack before together, so this should be very new and amazing to use online!   It makes you wonder what other Dual Crush techniques will be included.
Charlotte with Jonathan is obvious, but many wonder who Shanoa can Dual Crush with?

Ohhhh just imagine 3 Dual Crushes at the sametime!   ;D

Oh that's interesting. Plus there's that Poetic Justice achievement, I wonder who the ally is. I'm betting the ally will be unlockable after beating the game.

Either that or they refer to 'ally' as one of the other players in your team.
It might also halfway confirm Astarte being in this.

People have seen Yoko in a corner of one of the screenshots,
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2010/186/997663_20100706_screen002.jpg
but that might be one of the disguised enemies, but since her sprite is confirmed, that opens up possibilities of either Yoko and/or Julius being unlockable or DLC.

hmm, if Harmony of Despair sells well enough, then the PS3 community may get to enjoy it too! I know a lot of ps3 only friends that want this so badly but had bad xbox360 Rrod experiences.  Xbox360 is very reliable as long as you take care of it, but I admit it's the most fragile console against heat.

PS3 owners will still have to wait about 6 weeks before Konami even starts to consider porting this, but some have a theory they will anyway just because they would miss out on making more money if it remained exclusive to 360 forever.

Oh that's not so interesting. Probably Astarte yeah.
I'm hoping the Grasshopper achievement is hinting at some Nightshade-like platforming with having to leap off of enemies after jump kicking them, but I'm probably hoping too much.

its prolly somethin like richter or alucards special air things. Like Richter does the upper cut thing and Al does the gravity boots jump. Both of those you dont have to touch the ground. Either way itll prolly take a few to do cause like doin fireballs in street fighter nonstop... no matter how good you are you always miss one and end up punchin

I haven′t really been paying a lot of attention to which music is going to accompany the game. Are they remixes or the same arrangements as in older games?

those are some interesting achievements.  yeah, Astarte can charm, but I'm wondering if they'll add that ability to the Succubus or Lillith or Zachino even?  i do wonder what duel crushes they'll come up with.  maybe just one per every character combination?  i'm also glad to see there's over 300 different items in the game.

I know it is not really necessary because this is the topic about Despair, but I suggested something a while ago to avoid confusion:

HOD = Harmony of dissonance
HD = Harmony of despair

which also makes sense because Despair is in high def. And we can′t have two same abbreviations for different games.
