get away with it?  Many fans already find it totally acceptable without needing to change the others into 8-bit.  ;D

And it isn't the first time games have combined more graphically advanced characters with lower detailed enviornments.  Here is one example:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Unlocking Mr. Game and Watch

At least they didn't just port Game and Watch elements into Super Smash Bros. but in fact recreated those elements in its engine. Castlevania HD literally steals the exact assets from older games and randomizes them into this ugly mishmesh of a visual experience.

You should try harder justifying this lazy asset theft with a more fair example. Super Smash Bros. has effort put into its design when creating interpretations on the properties its based on. HD looks like a PC application for fangames sold on a retail console that was left a broken mess for 4 months before being patched, and even then there are still broken elements (Soma).

And please, don't use a stupid defense like "well if Soma's broken, try playing with players who don't abuse all of his traits." The game should be taking account for this bullshit, and I shouldn't have to turn my head a certain direction and nudge myself into an experience in order for the issue to be nonexistent.

Also, not that I like bringing up old news but didn't you say you were going to be done with this board to play with "true fans" when the game came out in August? And you're still doing damage control?

i would have preferred they make a new game for Castlevania and Getsu Fuuma and other related NES-era games.  But I guess it'd be nice to trek through the classic Castlevania characters with HD characters.

I'm still not interested in playing this, but I am pleased by the Gestu Fuuma Den stage/music/character, having played and beaten the original. That game never gets any love from Konami. (Stateside release plz Konami)

I think his name's Fuuma, by the way (like that one ninja in World Heroes). I'm pretty sure Getsu just means "moon" and relates to the dark nature of that game.

I don't know why they want to put 8-bit stages in a HD game. Kinda paradoxical.

Just hope Chapter 11 isn't the last one. BTW, people who play/played the game, is the one "One World Ruler" track plays anywhere? I've never seen it in a video.

Watching Beelzebub makes me think that Abaddon would have been a SUCH better boss for this chapter. Really. But heh, nostalgia.

Gotta say, it looks really boring, to me.  Then again, I'm watching and not playing, maybe that's it?

maybe thats it. ;)

I can hardly see why any symphony of the night fan would not enjoy this especially with friends.

But then again this is just my opinion on the matter.

No, it's not that you're not playing, it just is an incredibly boring boss battle. No excitement there what so ever. A common trend in this game.

especially with friends.
See, thats the problem with this game, it focuses too much on being  a multiplayer game, and thus is tedious and a chore to beat alone if you just want to play yourself a castlevania game. Not to mention it has absolutely no story. The excuse being that what was it again? the records of the battles of castlevania and shit have caused castlevania to spawn in the pages and thus you have an excuse to dump every single character together regardless of era.

Its a cheap cash in on IGAvania. Possibly because they didnt want another incident like symphony to happen, where the side project ultimately overshadowed and was better received than the main project Konami wanted to push- the 3D consolevania. So they most likely gave him specific guidelines on what to do and what not to do.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Beelzebub looks like a good metaphor for bosses in this game. It's a big corpse that soaks hits and not much else.

the truth:

Halmony of Despair is nothing more than just an extreme excercise in redundancy; maybe this concept wouldn't be so bad if they didn't reuse every single asset that most of us fans have been familiar with for the past 10+ years. The more videos I look at, I can't help but get the feeling that this was made specifically for players that are total virgins to the Castlevania experience, while the rest of us hardcores & maybe even casuals are left to sit here in bewilderment. I don't wanna say that I'm insulted by this project, but goddamn there's absolutely NO effort put into the gameplay (i know Affinity is gonna tear my ass apart for saying that but it's true). Seriously, they could be spending their resources porting Adventure ReBirth to other consoles (ya know, an actual CASTLEVANIA GAME), or even better, making ReBirth 2, but instead they'd rather release lackluster updates that some fans have to force themselves to play/like just because it's Castlevania. I almost feel bad for Ms. Kojima that her beautiful artwork has to be associated with this apparent slopfest :[  Now it looks like they want to drag the NES levels into this for literally no reason--ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME?

It's not nostalgia, it's pure laziness.

I haven't played HD in a while because, as I've said recently, the novelty has worn off too quickly. It would be highly beneficial for everyone if they were to create, you know, a BRAND NEW stage with BRAND NEW enemies/elements. Is that just too much to ask? They have all the utilities to do this and more at their disposal, yet they simply choose not to & instead port over the same stuff over and over with little variation. Such a waste.

Maybe I need to be drunk or something to fully enjoy this? I'll prolly get in a few rounds this weekend  ;)

The problem is not the game, the problem could be yourself and your point of view.   ;D While you are missing out on the fun and ranting in a circle, many still enjoy and appreciate what Castlevania HD has to offer, whether solo or with friends online!  ;D
