I have an idea as to what Castlevania Chronicles should have been: It should have been out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System -- done like Super Mario All-Stars.

Case in point - the collection should've contained the following:
*Castlevania (1987)
*Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1988)
*Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (1990)
*Super Castlevania IV (1991)
*Castlevania: Dracula X (1995)

What do you think?

I agree pretty much with that list. I would add the PC-Engine dracula x as well.

The only problem I had with the MMX collection is that someone at Capcom had the nerve to use the PS1 version of MMX3 instead of the SNES version.

Didn't take too kindly to the sound in that game.

Oh yeah, there's that too—its biggest flaw.
Oh yeah, and also:

Soda as well.

I disagree that it should've been a collection. Instead, they should've released both Chronicles and a Collection.
Though yeah, the whole point of Chronicles was to release former Japan-only games here, so I'd include Rondo and the X68 'Vania if it were a collection.

If they were ever to do any type of collection, it would be very cool if they really did a super huge collection with all American AND Japanese versions, plus Haunted Castle. One of the best features of the PSX Chronicles was that it offered the original Japanese X68000 version as well as the new arranged version. Now imagine if there was a huge anthology with 2 versions of every game...I'd definately pick that up.

Of course you're probably risking all kinds of emulation/port errors but if they did it right...that would be sweet  :D

The DS games and the Wii game kinda makes a complete Castlevania collection impossible. Well, not impossible, but very unlikely. It would basically have to be on the Wii. Unless they change the controls in Judgment. Also, the DS games could be done on other consoles, but Dawn of Sorrow uses the stylus quite a lot... Anyway, what I'm saying is; I want a COMPLETE Castlevania Collection, otherwise I don't see the point. I hate when developers make a collection and leave games out because they're "hard to port". Or even worse; because they weren't "good enough". We'll be the judge of that!

2010 is a perfect year for a Castlevania Collection, especially since Lords of Shadow is coming. It would be a way to say farewell to the old series, or something, and then move on.

Sadly, the closest thing we'll get to any type of huge collection like that is the soundtrack box set that just came out  :'(

I wouldn't mind a NES-only collection. But hopfully it won't be as cheap as the Castlevania/Contra PC release was.

Great idea. It would've been more like Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, what with including games actually for the SNES. I would love to be able to play the remakes AND the originals of the NES games though. Super Mario All-Stars could have done that. I would shell out at least 50 bucks today for such a game.
