I finally beat the original Castlevania last night (the classic NES Game Boy Advance version)
and I was a little dissapointed that that ending didn't have the puns of the horror movie star's names in it like the original version did. but it didn't really bnother me too much, because it was quite a gaming acheivement (first time in my entire life)

now, bring on CV III for the VC...

So it did'nt? I've not beaten the NES Classic GBA version, just the original for NES. (came to Grim without dying, and to franken without damage o_o) I don't like Drac in CV 1. He is damn hard sometimes :P And CVIII has a few diffrent endings so you have some playi'n to do, but since it's the best game ever made it's nothing to be sad about :D

Grant is my fave. Actually he's the only character, who can change his direction while in mid-jump, which is a real easing. And he can climb walls and ceilings, I mean, how cool's that?

Nope, because once you run out of hearts you plunge down and die if you're over a pit. Grant's climbing is cost-less, and in the original version he can snipe enemies from the walls/ceilings with daggers, also cost less.

oh sure, but flying can get you past areas alot easier as well as let you skip a couple of spots, like in one of those speed runs.

Also, Grant can use subweapons, which Alucard can not. Furthermore, Alucard's hellfire only does minor damage. Face it, Alucard is completely useless. /(T

Grant can do that, too.

In Alucard's defense, you can still transform into a bat if you're knocked off a ledge, so...he has at least one advantage over Grant.

Grant's ability to climb walls and his faster movement make him an overall faster character than Alucard. Also he's a lot more fun to play.

Wow, much debate here. I have some things to add. Kale, I'm surprised you didn't know of CV3's multiple endings. And bout grant Vs. Alucard, theyre both pretty crappy, IMO. Not so much Grant as it is Alucard. I just have trouble controlling Grant. Everytime I climb a wall, I fall off and die. I also get stuck in tight places, jump too far, or too high and it creates mishaps. Dagger is tough, but way too short. Alucard... that game just insulted the awesome image of Alucard we have today, no question.

Ironic that taking Syphia as your partner is the easiest way to play the game yet results in the best ending.

But too bad that you can only take one path with her.

unless would it work with the password that lets you start the game with her?
