PSP was great because it was the only platform that you can literally play ALL the classic CV games on it (even CV64, although it was very glitchy due to the emulator but I'm sure those problems have been ironed out by now).

i think FROGGER is well due for a reboot

I want to point out that I think Maria will be my favorite character to play. Seeing her shoot doves at monsters is just too damn funny! And I think it's cool that she summons animals from the Chinese Constellations. Obviously while her 4 summoned animals represent Chinese Mythology, the doves are more a Christain thing because they represent Jesus (and holy things kill vampires). It's kind of neat how Castlevania borrows so much from Christain mythology in the games, though I'm sure most real Christains would be appalled at these games.  :P

Maria mode kinda sucks on the PSP version. Her doves are pretty much worthless as they deal 1 damage to like 80% of the enemies.  She is super glitchy due to lazy programming and and she is severely underpowered on offence and defence. They didn't even bother to bring over all her subweapons from RoB.  The Egg and the Song Book are both missing for no good reason.  The only good thing is her mode is actually a descent challenge. The Maria mode in Saturn NiTM is much more fun, she has a way cooler move set and even her own intro + ending complete with exclusive entrance music.

My only problem with DXC is Richters walking animation. It doesn't look quite right compared to the original Belmont strut (which also looks "wrong" in many ways, but it's a classic walk and I wouldn't want it any other way!). Other than that, I think the package is great. Unlocking the original Rondo takes a little more effort than unlocking SotN (if I recall correctly) but I really recommend doing it ASAP so you can compare the two. I prefer the original - the soundtrack is much better and it feels more like a classic CV - but the remake is a damn fine 2D action platformer too. I think I need to play it again right away.

I love DXC! I think it's the best thing IGA did while he was involved with Castlevania. It's also perfectly suited to the PSP being a remake/port (haha!)  It's really cool how DXC is similar enough to RoB that you'd know it's a remake, but there are enough different things about it that it warrants playing both games. I prefer it when they don't just make a straight up remake without changing ANYTHING, especially for games I really dig.

I'd love to play it on a tv, but sadly I only have a PSP1000, which I'm rather partial to, but...

Not at all. it actually strengthens my faith running around killing evil for the good of mankind. there's a reason the Cross is majority of the time the strongest sub-weapon in the game. I.E (in Symphony of the night=100 hearts)

My friend let me borrow his psp (chronicles on the go yay!) I've been debating whether or not I should get this game seeing as how I already own 2/3 of whats on the disc lol. Is the remake worth the $15 or is the original superior?

Considering it's way easier to play than the original (y'know, not having to spend a huge amount of money on a highly obscure and fragile CD system), I'd say it's worth it if you already have a PSP. But there's the issue with ghosting and the fact that it's way cooler on a big screen that just can't beat the original.

Whoops, you meant the remake, haha. I'd say it's worth it for the new stuff, yeah.

Well I'm going to play the remake then try the two unlockable games Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. The remake looks awesome, mostly because I'm a 3D kind of guy and I think it's cool to see a 3D platformer game.

BTW am I the only one who thinks Iris looks like a boy? Why was she drawn in men's clothes with short hair?  ???

So I bought it and beat it (saved all the wimenz too) it's not bad but the entire time I had this looming feeling that if they had put this on the ps3 instead it would have been 10X better. All the details in the background are lost because everything is so tiny, its a shame.
Uh I also noticed this dude with a cape standing in the background on what seems to be a bridge on the stage where you fight the Dogether, the level with the dinosaur skeleton and it's as soon as the level begins. Anyone know who this might be? it's really bugging me and he's in the original too i checked.
