Here's what the Schmoo really is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shmoo

However, I'm pretty sure it wasn't called that in the original J release.

SotN had so awesome monsters that every CV game since has at least 20 SotN enemies. :D

SoTN might have had most original, but LoI still has the goriest boss. Dunno if that should be considered an achievement though...
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I'd consider it an achievement.

LOI boss battle with The Forgotten One was definitely one of the most interesting and gory battles in CV history in my opinion.

I'd love to see The Forgotten One and Beezelbub return in the next castelvania installement with upgraded graphics and battle techniques.

No thanks.  At least not as a main boss.  I hate that kind of gore.

What I love about the symphony is the amount of enemies, forgetting pallet swaps, the game had a lot of monsters, and, diferent to other IGa games, they made sense in their own location (And there were no electric robots nor indian gods). I would love a new CV game with the variety of SOTN.

Everything comes full circle

I'm cool with the Indian gods, but you're right in that enemies never make sense in their locations in IGA's games. Wonder why that is.

Wonder how would you move any enemies in OoE for example to make them make sense?
Fans always claim they know any stuff better than developers, that makes me laugh.

For the topic, kinda disagree. Symphony has just the biggest quantity of different monsters. Monsters from Rondo started its art-style are not worse at all.

Given that SOTN pretty much started the whole trend of reusing sprites from old games I can't say that I agree, there is nothing creative about taking an already established enemy & changing them around a bit. I suppose it's fully original monsters were occassionally interesting but I felt the often praised Beezlebub was about as entertaining as the possessed wall in Haunted Castle & Frankenstein's monster was just plain goofy looking.

It was at least understandable in SoTN's case, with it being a sequel of Rondo. Plus, CVI, II, and III all shared sprites anyway. And SoTN was mostly original so it was no big deal~
While I liked boss appearances in SoTN, they were all designed very poorly.

While SotN has many good monsters design, it is full of Skeleton-type enemies, like the Skelerang, Bone Ark, Slinger, Bone Archer, Bone Musket, Yorick, Blade Master, etc.

Don't see anything bad in this by the way. Why don't people like skeleton-type monsters?..

Rondo isn't the only game that Sotn borrowed a few sprites from, it also used ones from Super Castlevania IV & possibly Castlevania X6800 aswell but to a much lesser extent. You are correct though in saying that previous Castlevania games have occasionally shared sprites too but it is far more prevalent in Sotn I believe.

Oh, I forgot about those. I can't even recognize the X6800 ones because they actually got edited to fit in SoTN's style more iirc.

Also Blade Master is the best skeleton. Or maybe after HoD's Simon Wraith, dressed in their Simon Belmont garbs.
