Castlevania: 3rD Sorrow (Nintendo 3DS)
(Someone mentioned that very title in another thread. It fits.)

Plot:
Dunno. All I know is that it should end similarily to Alien 3. Soma realizes that the only way to end the evil is to kill himself. The soul of Dracula will then sort of...dunno... leave his body and someone (Arikado or whoever) will absorb the soul into some kind of... thingie. A RANDOM MAGIC STONE maybe. The Crimson Stone? I hardly remember what the crimson stone did cause I don't pay attention to storylines in Castlevania games. But anyway. Soma must die.

I'd be fine if they just take DoS out of canon and make AoS just it tbh.

Seconded. Aria was a great end. it was perfectly written and paced, and the "you are Dracula" thing was revealed SO well. Come on. This tune... In that scene... Is epic and you know it.

Dracula's Fate - Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

(Hey there Jorge! XD)

Honestly, no Sorrow game can ever top Aria, unless they were to ever remake Aria itself with better graphics, updated music, and more Ayami art. (and this time, WITHOUT Hammer and Julius looking like long lost brothers)

Dawn of sorrow's plot was terrible. it, along with the anime look, was just like reviewers said. "down to the level of Saturday morning anime" Soma is nothing more than an afterthought in this. in Aria, the game revolved around him. He was trapped in the castle and Alucard told him the way out. in Dawn... we have a cliche saturday morning villain with the cliche hothead henchman and the cliche gay "smart and stylish" henchman.
She could fucking TELEPORT, and all the while laughing that horribly generic evil laughter.

Final boss was pathetic too. At least Chaos was plot relevant. You could remove Dawn from the timeline and nothing would be lost. A few of the character designs suffered as a result too. Soma himself comes to mind. They trashed his oh-so-70's awesome look for something more "futuristic" looking. his original design IMO gave him a more regal air, what with that fur trim and all.

Julius looked cooler in AoS too. Just opinion there though, since I thought he looked badass in those red pants.

He was nerfed though in Dawn. he was much more badass in Aria. in Dawn they just passed him off more as an afterthought. A vampire hunter past his prime. Whereas in Aria, he was clearly still IN his prime. I mean When you look at that Holy cross, and see it RIPPING CHUNKS OFF OF THE CASTLE, yeah. He's still got it. And that was him HOLDING BACK. Imagine if he went all out? Screw fighting Chaos, he could have pulled the castle itself out of the sky.

If anything, they could try and fix Soma up with a better story. Why not make him a Vampire Hunter along with Julius and crew? I mean he HAS the power and determination for it, and what better hunter than the reincarnation of Dracula himself?

But they would never do that. :P

And in fact, i hope they dont. Leave Soma as is. His story was just fine with Aria. Dawn was already unessecary.

So Soma is hunting himself? lol

I don't know about the rest of you, but to me, Soma IS Dracula.

The two are the one and the same.

But I agree. Aria was just simply a masterpiece while Dawn was just a plain trainwreck when it came to plot and art direction.

Soma's background being what it is, I don't see why they wouldn't make a game in which two plot arcs are in the game, 'Moon' and 'Sun'.

In the 'Moon' plot arc, Soma has been overtaken by Dracula's memory, and the object is to get to the throne room so you can claim the power of the castle.

In the 'Sun' arc, Soma and company have found some way of dealing with Dracula's Memory and are on a mission to do so, also needing Soma in the throne room.

I see the conclusion being some form of stoker-esq 'Oh god I'm a vampiya and I'm dyin erg erg erg' dialog as the sun rises. At least for the 'Moon' plot arc.

Not sure what the other ending would be.

Hmm, I don't really know.  I wouldn't mind seeing him again if it was done right.  Dawn of Sorrow really missed key opportunities with the guy, because it basically didn't do anything to further the character or his story.  If the guy doesn't turn bad and go Dracula, I don't really see any point in having him again, though, unless he's just a supporting character.

Agreed, Soma is so better looking in shojo anime style than in shonen anime style.

DoS was pointless.  It should have ended with AoS.  Soma even says at the end of AoS that "the power is no longer evil."  Meaning that defeating the chaos freed him from it.  Thus, he wouldn't have to worry about it anymore and the power would just be in a dormant state for the rest of his life.  It should have ended there.

Short of a remake of DoS that is overhalled to the point that the story is completely different and actually advances the overall storyline, there shouldn't be anymore Sorrow games and the original DoS should be removed from the cannon.

In DoS defense, I must say it's a better game than AoS. In my opinion, of course.
The lame story and crappy artwork is one thing, but the gameplay and castle design was better in my opinion.
But yeah, AoS pretty much said everything there was to say about Soma. Still, I wouldn't want to have DoS unplayed. Because I liked it.

They should have just updated AoS and re-released it on the DS. Without the anime-style drawing of course and possibly a larger castle.

I thought the good thing about AoS was how lean the castle is.
Well, while still upholding a bunch of minuscule neat gimmicks and details.

On the 3DS, and add a prologue that takes place in 1999(like in SotN with Richter) where you play as Julius entering the keep and battling Dracula for the last time. Might be the ONLY chance we get to come close to the Demon Castle Wars in game form.

AoS:my third favourite CV..DoS was a good game but I didn't like it modifying the far better story and art of AoS.

They should just go with the Julius ending in DoS. Heck even better make a game kind of like Julius mode but with more plot, more talking, more sub weapons and upgrades, and Hammer in it climbing walls and throwing knifes(or shooting people). Then at the end have Soma be the final bad guy and thus you have a new Soma game.
