No, I think they were just lazy. What nagged me more is that they didn't even make the sprite as smoothly animated as in SoTN and they gave him a stupid outline.

think it was a bit laziness mixed with "OMG, teh Alucard!! SoTN roxxors!!" SotN fanboy wanking. It's similar how Square Enix were milking FFVII.

Now I'm curious as to what system that game's for.

I'm not against soma, but I do not care for androgynous men characters

I'm also not a real fan of those types either.

I much preferred Soma's DoS look over his Emo/androgynous AoS look.

I would not have minded it as much but I really did not like the change his hair underwent. it looked rather natural in Aria, and looked nice on him. Then Dawn changed his hair style, and made it look ridiculous. personally, I feel that his Aria look looked more regal. he had that fur trim big coat, likening him almost to Mathias in LoI.

If I were Dracula reincarnated, I wouldn't be caught undead or alive wearing the AoS look.

That was probably intentional, and was a great idea to make him seem more like Dracula.



I honestly didn't know anyone liked Soma's character design in Dawn better. That really baffles me.

I personally adored the AoS artwork, really well done..and the modern illustration of Alucard was splendid, perfectly suited!

I would like to see Arikado as a secondary playable character after finishing the game, with all the abilites and special weapons represented in sotn(and just as overpowered, just for fun=).

I see no bad reason by IGA making Alucard holding back his real powers through his disguise...perhaps it is necessary to do this in order to hold back his evil vampiric instinct..?

I'm guessing it's just to distinguish between his forms. Like, Arikado = black hair/suit, Alucard = blonde hair/sup-I'm-a-vampire outfit.

With the 'R' and 'L' making a similar sound, 'Arikado' probably sounds similar to 'Alucadoh'. I'm guessing they did it to make it obvious who he was for the storyline.

It could be worse. He could have changed his name to Alucardio Jalapeno Montoya Montenero de conqueso mackleroy macgilicudy van funkenberger schleshelhopfer xerxes yancy nancy pansy harvard yale whale dale Dracula the second.

What I want to know is why doesn't Alucard/Arikado reveal to Soma his true identity?  Soma has a right to know who exactly is watching over him.  Plus, how can Soma trust someone who he knows next to nothing about.  I know that I couldn't if I was in Soma's shoes.

But it goes the other way too. I think Arikado didn't trust Soma either. With someone like Graham going around pretending he's Dracula, i think it was natural for Arikado to be suspicious about Soma . And even if he told him who he was, maybe Soma wouldn't have been able to handle the truth that well, especially if he did it in the early parts of the game.Or maybe he didn't have the time to tell him the truth. He was prolly busy chasing after Graham, looking for Julius, and the castle is big.
 Also it must feel awkward to tell a kid that he's your long lost father, who happens to be Dracula
