Most of these supposed condradiction arise because of bad localization, and because people don't pay attention to what is established.

This.

Yeah, look at comics or video games. People usually don't buy games for the storyline or stuff like that. They only buy them becase they're fun to play.
Hey man nice to see you, how are the 90's going!  :D

And there's Mega Man, which has six or seven different series across two timelines, three or four of which contradict each other in myriad ways in spite of being part of the same timeline, quite a feat. (Dear God, some of the things in the X and Zero games are hilariously contradictory. It's why I ignore the plot by and large.) And Mega Man holds (I think) the world record for the most entries in a single game series.
But Megaman is different because:
1- It's not a blockbuster saga
2- Its story is waay secondary.

Cv hadn't been the most story-centric series but that's really changing now, and this new direction is aided to "big" consoles not downloadables or portables like Mega Man, while I understand your point (And I would certanily survive with the two timelines running side by side) I'm not sure on how Konami management would manage the situation.

Another possible exit could be tie the new timeline with the old but God it would require Stephen King to do that

You know, that 90's comment is a bit hilarious because if you look at a company like Nintendo, they're the most profitable company this generation if you look at their software, and almost none of the games are smothered with story. Story isn't a mandated feature to make a game fun, but an optional component to pad out reasoning within gameplay. One could argue that when Castlevania started to focus on plots is when the series started to fall into decline.

As for tying into the main Konami timeline of the series, it only takes a few retcons. Hideo Kojima and Tetsuya Nomura have done those types of things with much more story-focused games like Metal Gear and Kingdom Hearts. The biggest issue with Lords when compared to something like Lament is the transition to Dracula. Does Gabriel become Dracula and defeat Mathias (who only takes the title of Lord of the Vampires based on LoI's ending, not the name Dracula) to inherit all of the traditional Dracula powers in later games? Does that mean that Dracula is the "father" to the clan that has sworn to fight evil? It sounds absurd, but so was the ending and epilogue to Lords and the twists it presented, and it especially seems within reason if Hideo Kojima has the authority to have any input into the story.

My answer to the thread's title would be: by stopping making shitty Castlevania games. And maybe focusing on pachinko and water polo games for the rest of times.

:D

Well, this may be unrelated to Castlevania but it seems Konami s going to have a pre-E3 event on June 2nd, which will showcase new game announcements and all new trailers. I figure they, like Microsoft and Sony, and trying to get their stuff out before Nintendo nukes the show again with their announcements.

Agree with all of this, principally with the part of CV games where better until they get deep in history (that´s the way I understand). And with the 90´s comment of Ahasverus; i would ask: how old are you, friend? Back in that age, videogames doesn´t need such emphasys in story to be fun. There are good games with good storys, although. But, games like Castlevania, for example, are simply great in that time. Why to put a Hollywood-esque (or Kojima-esque) plot in a videogame with 20+ years of existence? Is that necessary? Why to make a reboot? Can somebody know what is reengineering, in administration? I´m according to many fans that the history in CV in the IGA timeline is a complete mess. But in other wise words "when Castlevania started to focus on plots is when the series started to fall into decline". And then we have Lords of Shadow...

And Megaman series where totally blockbuster in the 90´s, not now I accept (i´m watchig you, Battle Network/Star Force >:(!!!). I really miss that days...

Um... Neither of these are true for Castlevania either. LoS was a step in that direction, but the story was only a step forward in its grasp on the English language and better voice actors; it's pretty blatantly about as complex as one of IGA's stories outside of the better sense of foreshadowing (and, I would argue, some of the neat easter eggs like the background information on the Castle). It was still the betrayal-by-old-friend and sacrifice/loss-of-lady-friend crap all over again; Cox just had the benefit of hiding it from the public until the game came out.

Also in terms of plot making a game series successful, Gears of War would beg to differ. Though I'm not a fan of those games.

Ugh. I really do like playing the Gears games, but that's absolutely true: their bro-tastic plot is the worst thing about the series. I had to lol at people on message boards stifling back tears as Dom put his wife down like she was a rabid dog or something. Yikes.

As part of a 25th anniversary package, I'd like to see a big poster done by Ayami Kojima with featuring all of the playable characters to date.

Something like the art in the AoS/DoS and PoR soundtracks, but grander in scale.

I shudder to think what Kid Dracula would look like. That'd be like her drawing Sonic.
