So close, and yet so far...

It's not like they're a bad developer, far from it. But dammit, we've been clamoring for a proper 2D console Castlevania (a series which WayForward fucking LOVES) and Konami seems to want to do everything but that.

I'm really confused right now.

Until Konami stops being playa hatas and specifically asks these folks to do Castlevania, there's nothing to be done. ;_;

Now, a 1999 Julius game by these guys with music from Geoffrey Gunn...that's what I'm talking about. 8)

Ah well, though. Hopefully this Silent Hill will be good. ^^

Either way, I'm excited. o. o WayForward doing a Silent Hill title may be pretty cool.

I'm curious when/if Konami will ever go back to developing their own Silent Hill games, though. It's been far too long since The Room came out, and none of the games since hold a candle to the original four.

BUT DAMMIT THIS MEANS I GOTTA BUY A STUPID FRIGGIN' VITA AND I NEVER EVER EVER TOUCH MY PSP IT'S GONNA BE THE SAME DAMN THING ALL OVER AGAIN RIGGINFRIGGINRAZZAFRAZZIN

Oh, probably never. The staff in Japan is too busy either working in the Metal Gear sweatshop or calling other studios in Kazakhstan for hire.

Yes, I'm bitter. Extreeeeeeeemely bitter.

Though WayForward with any license is great news. It's like they've been blessed by the spirits of Old Konami and Old Capcom; even Nobuya Nakazato was said to be quite pleased with Contra 4. Jake Kaufman/Virt is a great composer, but I'm wondering if he'll do the music, or Akira Yamaoka will be called up or if they'll collaborate on it together.

And though WayForward makes brilliant old school 2D games, how will they handle something like Silent Hill? I'm genuinely curious now to see how this turns out, now that a GOOD developer has been called on.

I don't think Yamaoka is freelance anymore; I'm pretty sure he works for grasshopper manufacture now. Either way, I don't see him contributing to any more Silent Hill games. My guess is he probably isn't very pleased with the western shift in the series. The western-developed Silent Hills, while fun, have pretty shitty stories.

He did say he was waiting for a call to work on Downpour, but never got one.

:O I see. Maybe Konami's pissed at him for leaving. 'Cos they're a bunch of tards an' stuffs.

I wonder if the Vita game will get a console release. Konami should have learned from Origins that a handheld Silent Hill game is bullsheet—there's too much atmosphere and stuff that isn't conveyed well over a tiny screen and headphones.
