Rokkuman X8 was a good game, major improvement from X7 in nearly every way. Too bad Capcom will never follow up on the ending, though (the story is convoluted anyway as far as certain dates & events are concerned) Even when they tried "rebooting" the series with Maverick Hunter X, Capcom still fails to follow up on it.

As far as Street Fighta's concerned, I'm more looking forward to Third Strike Online Edition which should be dropping soon!

THIS IS NOW A MEGAMAN THREAD.

X8 was actually worse than X7. I hate to say it, but its really about 5 steps backward.

the core run and shoot was there, but thats about it...

Stages had no replay value, since everything was purchasable in the shop, Hidden items were really not that well hidden, (capsules are the worst offenders) One stage even reuses the same area twice in order to give the illusion of a longer stage- GIGABOLT MAN-O-WAR'S STAGE- The models being pretty bad in quality compared to X7, (MHX follows this problem), the redesigns not being too great, (Lookin' at you, Zero) characters suffering from clamp syndrome, etc. There were a few more gripes I had, but I dont remember them now.

X7 on the other hand, only had 3 problems. Stage design, it's physics engine being broken. (dash wall jumping doesnt work like it should), and trying to mix 2D with 3D. made worse by the auto lock on system.

I will give X8 props for compleyely revamping Axl's gameplay though. They made him play more like Bass with a hover.

about the X8 ending- Axl is fine, whatever happens, he doesnt die, since he is just fine in Command Mission. (which was pretty great, IMO, and STILL looked better than X8)
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

lol that's funny, cuz I feel the exact opposite (X7 terrible, X8 great). to each his owwwwn

But the X series is pretty much almost dead (except for that Rockman Online thing, which may or may not be canon, but there's fears that Capcom will eventually cancel that too) I'm still waiting for MHX2.

I dunno if i'm correct, but I recall a while back some timeline that was featured on one of the Japanese Rockman sites (i think it was for the RMZ Collection), and every X game was included EXCEPT for X7, X8, etc. which may or may not imply that those games could've been retconned?? I don't even know anymore.

I used to be the local champion of the old street fighter series on my neighbor, but i haven't played them for some years. So, when Street Fighter 4 came out and i went and tried the online mode, i realised that i have been rusty and what i used to be, was history..... :P

THIS IS NOW A MEGAMAN THREAD.
No....no it's not. I mean megaman is kewl and all but why not make another thread about it?
CONDOR DIVE CONDOR DIVE CONDOR DIVE CONDOR DIVE CONDOR DIVE

My friends tend to hate me when I pick T. Hawk. For pretty good reasons, really.
*sigh* if only I could do that anymore. The patch seriously crippled him for no reason, he wasn't broken in the first place :/

I'm pretty sure if you can win by only doing condor dives then there's something wrong that needed fixing. Not to mention they rebalanced based on what the tournament peeps reported back so I would guess that there are good reasons for most of the changes.

You do realize that's a game update right? Someone's salty. All it does is re balance the characters, its not unusual for fighting games to do that. Mortal Kombat does that all the time.
Edit: Also the patch will fix Yun and Yang. Those who bitched about him(like me admittedly) can rest easy now.

a simple "we're patching the game" would have been enough, I think capcom is self-aware that they are satirizing themselves with a new line in the title...
Given their current reputation, ver.2012 can't be too good.

on the other hand, its worlds better than that UMvC3 Bullshit that their trying to sell, even the "pro" matches are pathetic.

Blazblue kinda does the same thing, Caocom just uses a different subtitle. An update is an update, crying about that is pointless. Plus I think UMVC3 had to happen, MVC3 was awful so I can see why they are fixing their problems so early. Also its gunna be 40 bucks with 12 new characters, since jill and shuma were 5 bucks a piece imagine if the other 12 were the same. You would be paying over 70 bucks in DLC. Anyway back on Street Fighter, you really shouldn't be surprised at this point anyway. Look at every other Street Fighter game. At least this one didn't get over 10 games like Street Fighter 2 or over 5 like Alpha. It has 3 expansions, which is on par with SF3 so that's reasonable. Also its not just capcom that does this, Arksys does the same thing with Blazblue and SNK did do the same in a way with KoF since they did recycle a lot in between games. The point is that its kind of a fighting game thing that yes Capcom did start but you can't say its only their fault anymore.

I'm pretty sure a ducking HP anti-air or similar anti-air from most people would either trade or stuff the Condor Dive. But then I haven't kept up with balance patches and whatnot.

On the note of fixing stuff, I wish this game would help you out a little more in at least learning the timing of certain combos. To me, advanced combos very quickly become "guess the millisecond you need to press the button" which is very infuriating, especially when I press a button and a normal just doesn't come out.

I have ken'd a lot of T.Hawks that did that. Of course EX Condor Dive will probably out prioritize that.
