THIS IS NOW A MEGAMAN THREAD.
X8 was actually worse than X7. I hate to say it, but its really about 5 steps backward.
the core run and shoot was there, but thats about it...
Stages had no replay value, since everything was purchasable in the shop, Hidden items were really not that well hidden, (capsules are the worst offenders) One stage even reuses the same area twice in order to give the illusion of a longer stage- GIGABOLT MAN-O-WAR'S STAGE- The models being pretty bad in quality compared to X7, (MHX follows this problem), the redesigns not being too great, (Lookin' at you, Zero) characters suffering from clamp syndrome, etc. There were a few more gripes I had, but I dont remember them now.
X7 on the other hand, only had 3 problems. Stage design, it's physics engine being broken. (dash wall jumping doesnt work like it should), and trying to mix 2D with 3D. made worse by the auto lock on system.
I will give X8 props for compleyely revamping Axl's gameplay though. They made him play more like Bass with a hover.
about the X8 ending- Axl is fine, whatever happens, he doesnt die, since he is just fine in Command Mission. (which was pretty great, IMO, and STILL looked better than X8)
