you forgot to add Curse of Darkness. That story did a fair bit of damage to the series and kind of alienated itself among it's Superior predecessor; CV3.

I wonder what Mathias's reaction would have if Leon just ran right past Rinaldo and never got the whip.     

Mathias would immediately run outside the castle gate, dressed as Greco with a mask, and pushes Leon towards Rinaldo's cabin while saying "Look this way!   Someone is waiting for you in there!   They know about your loved one!"
