for all the bitching people do about 06, it still felt like the adventure style though. And it HAD potential. too bad.
To be fair, I agree, the game has far amounts of potential that could have made the game easily on of the best sonic games,
-the good-
Graphics and Music are really top notch, it has my favorite appearance of egg-man
Story..... Well, that's a pretty bad one, but the concept of time travel referencing sonic CD was really cool
No change of character in characters, except that weird spontaneous romance, which lead to something really dumb
Variation of Sonic, Shadow and Silver was very good, when you were playing one character you didn't feel like you were playing the others.
the events where you play as other characters were awesome too
Lastly, the game felt like the true SA2 since it behaved more like SA.
a Day/night engine was in the game, would have been awesome to see it in action
The memphalis Plot was great!
-the bad-
Sadly, the Day/night transitions weren't present
The Load times Rival that of Duke Nukem Forever
The Physics are broken in most areas
Control, Something you barely or do not have most of the time
the Amigo sections were wierd and yet again, control.
Purchasing upgrades is a real drag when you only resorted to play the last level over and over
The build up and Sonic Dying and ressurection is a Big-lipped Aligator moment
The Navigation through Fields could have used a compass or marker
the "romance" is forced apon the player even when they have a "choice"
the writing is Garbage "That Tornado is carrying a Car!"
even when you have the adventure field, you're stil pretty much getting the Linear treatment.
oh yeah, Simple talking of the NPC's requires at least 5 mins of loading time!

I can get over the stupid story and the Ridiculous writing, but this game should have been released in 07, it would have been one of the best sonic games ever....

oh yeah, did you know Sonic 06 was originally developed to be Silver only, but Sega decided that adding sonic was a great idea, this explains why Silver's Stages are pretty damn solid as Shadow's are confusing at times and Sonic's get those broken high-speed sections.

Overall, I file this beside FFXIII, has everything to make the next best thing, and the evidence shows it, some somewhere everything fell apart...

You are missing out.

Try Unleashed, Colors, an maybe Heroes. Shadow was an odd game, but it's definitely worth trying too. Especially if you played SA2. (its more or less a sequel to SA2's story, or at least tries to be)

Holy shit man, you like the oddest games... Shadow is... God... FUCKING HORRIBLE, that game has no redemption characterist (MAYBE, just MAYBE, the music, and that's it).

Heroes has an interesting concept... bad implementation. Terrible game as well. The Adventure series is kinda of good, specially the first one.

Being fan of Sonic since the Mega Drive era, it was disguting to see what my favourite mascot turned to be... with Unleashed/Colors and now Generations, I'm sure the series is getting back on the track.

Well like I said, i cant really hate any of the games. I had fun with them despite their problems. I liked Shadow's stages and music, and despite being completely foreign to sonic games, the gameplay was ok at best. It wasnt broken really. Best parts were really the bosses. Mainly because you didnt always have to use weapons.

Also getting special weapons by beating the game was cool. egg sucker gun thing ftw.

Also, I loved how they remixed part of I Am with part of Live and Learn for the Super Shadow transformation sequence. Pity there wasnt a full remix of LnL. At least some older SA2 themes got remixed for better or worse, Egman Robeatnix mix was really cool, and the ark remix was alright too.

I wonder though if you get a choice of play styles or if you are forced to use both. I'm actually not really a fan of the newer behind-back-style sonic game play and would be pleased as punch not to have to play those style stages at all.

And if they are forced, then what the hell's the difference between this and Colors?

From what i heard, you can play the entire game as Modern Sonic, or the entire game as Classic Sonic. Apparently there IS a mode in which you play both, but they are tight lipped about it

I wonder what other exclusive stages the 3DS version will be getting.

If they get Starlight Zone or Lave Reef I'm going to be pissed lol.

Considering how bad the 3DS is doing "sales wise" it should not take you to long to get the money lol.

Ah hey, the version based off Sonic rush.

I would say dont waste your money when all it is is Sonic with boost vs Sonic without boost.

you do know they aren't going the Sonic Rush route on the 3ds version since the hardware can do the same thing the consoles can, just at a lower resolution.

Ahem.
Sonic Generations: 3DS Gameplay - Modern Stage

The 3DS version is dimps. All they KNOW is rush. Even though the 3DS can handle wii like sonic gameplay.
