Given that I do not own a console, I have yet to enjoy this game, I have seen enough to know I'll like it though, someday I'll get a PS3 to enjoy this game on.

I beat the game the other night and I would say it was my favorite game I've played in a long time! Anyhow, after you beat it you automatically start a new game plus. All your equipment carries over, as well as your levels. Including yourself and what you've done to your equipment. Your items besides keys also carry over. Very nice, especially some of the rings. Whatever level you kindled your bonfire also carries. Later in the game you get the Rite of Kindling, and you can kindle them all up to give you 20 estus flask. Also your estus flask level carries. Anyhow, the enemies have a slightly higher HP, but not much. The tough part is they all pack about twice the punch. So enemies I would of shrugged off before require more attention to say the least. Especially the enemies that could kill me in 1 or 2 hits in my first run through.... Prowling Demons (those big headless lightning guys with staffs that crawl around) I hate them even more than I ever thought I could. Anyhow, to unlock all the achievements and the different ending playing through New Game+ is a must. Can't wait to see the next ending. If I can ever beat the final boss with double the hit power...

My praise got a friend to buy this today, I hope he likes it! He and I used to play many a NES and SNES game together. So if any one is up to the challenge he is. Just hope he doesn't call me pissed off and saying the game is too hard ha. I did not recommend the game to my other buddies who only play FPS games with me.

Having seen this game in action (on youtube) and also Demons Souls, this is really tempting me to go and buy either an XBox or PS3. Having said that, apparently there is a large push from the community to bring this game to Steam and the PC. Now if that happened... you'd bet I'd buy it. I'd have to upgrade my stuff but it'd be worth it just for this.

i've mentioned this over at the antichapel, but while I think this game has many excellent ideas, after blight town it gets *too* hard and moves over on to frustrating territory, really destroying a good deal of enjoyment.

I think he missed the part about locking on... Hope nobody actually sucks this bad. I know the video was intended for humor... I hope. Though my pal said when he bought it at gamestop some guy there said he died right away and decided to bring it back. What a pussy!

I did put it for humor and as about the guy your friend mention, he reminds me my self, when i played for the first time demon's souls and wasn't able to pass the tower knight boss..... :P

I went out and bought Dark Souls based solely on the comments/contents of this thread.....and I'm very glad I did so.  I have to agree with many who have previously made the statement...this feels EXACTLY how a 3D Castlevania game should.  Granted there isn't much platforming, but I don't really mind.  We've had 10 years of all that double jumping nonsense, and I'm ready for a game that places the emphasis on combat and real exploration for once.  Dark Souls fits the bill perfectly.  I've been completely unable to remove this game from my 360 disc tray ever since its purchase.  Even grinding in the same spot for several hours never fails to entertain. ;D

I've got the game 2 days ago. I have to say that it is far superior to demon's souls and more easy than demon's souls. Right now, i'm stuck at maneater boss. I really hated him in demon's souls, now i hate him even more in dark souls!!!! >:(

Also, i must have the most ridiculous second boss win. When i went for the first time and he jumped down on me, i tried to run away from him and i fell off down the cliff and so the boss. The game said victory achieved and then game over. When i went back to the boss, he wasn't ther, only my blood stain and when i touch it, it gave me 6000+ souls!!! Am i lucky or no? :P

Some say it's a glitch, but the fact the designers actually created a spot where the Taurus Demon can jump off of is a bit of a trick you can take advantage of.

They let you get a freebie on that one, sometimes, and for good reason later in the game. ;3

I have beat the dark night at dark root forest this way and obtained his spear which is a perfect weapon, since with this one, i can kill most of the As%@* black phantoms that they invade my world, trying to ruin my game!!!

Anyone know a good katana build?

Best I've made is a +5 lightning Iaito. Not stat wise, but from using several builds, some better stat wise, this one kicked the most ass over all. I've also made a +15 Iaito, which had S scaling to my dex, and the +5 lightning definitely seemed better. Wish I could un-do it and get my slab back... I also made a +4 lightning washing pole, didn't wanna go +5 and have to use a mega rare titanite slab on it. It's longer and slower than the Iaito. All in all, as you can tell I would definitely recommend the +5 lightning Iaito, and if you don't wanna spend a slab, go +4. The Iaito can be found near the beginning of Blight Town, when coming from the Depths. You have to do a running leap onto a platform after you face some fat ogre guys with clubs and some of those crazy blight town pink guys. One of my most liked weapons, my most powerful being my +5 lightning zweihander. Lightning weapons seem to be super beast on this game. They seem to stomp other weapons I have with better stats. If your not sure how to make them, the giant smith in Anor Londo can make them for you. You must first level a weapon to +10 before you can turn it to lightning however. He can also turn +10 weapons into unique weapons using souls of bosses.

Thanks.  I'm glad to hear that the Iaito makes for a good weapon...seeing as I got overzealous and killed Shiva of the East trying to get the acrobat's ring from the ninja standing nearby....whoops.  Makes getting the Washing Pole and Uchigatana impossible now. No worries.
