The R-type series. I just love each game. all i need to do is play R-type leo,(i just don't know how to work MAME...)and bite the bullet and buy Delta. (i can find the damn thing under 80 bucks...) then i will have played them all. until command is released lol.

taking a close second is Shenmue. It's a shame that another one will never be made. (at least that's my opinion)

Ooh, you're going to hate me. I picked it up for $20 (at most) locally. I had no idea it was no sought after. I believe it's even in the box of games I might be willing to sell (I'm trimming down my collection considerably once I get the balls to do it).

Really? Why? You just didn't think the life of someone couldn't be run so much by a single video game series, right? I get that a lot from a friend of mine.

Command & Conquer- Anybody who is familiar with the series knows why.

Silent Hill- Because it's the only game that I don't feel like playing alone at night.

Hitman- Because you cannot stay indifferent to a game where you kill people for money.

Duke Nukem- Simply because of Duke Nukem and his voice acting. Period.

Gradius - great shmup series
Bubble Bobble series (plus Taito games similarly related to the series such as Liquid Kids and New Zealand Story, as well as the Puzzle Bobble spinoffs)- something about addictiveness and all the little secrets in the game that are well hidden
Arkanoid - addicting like crack
R-Type - read above about Gradius

There's likely more, but for now this is what I came up with.

Everything else I own and know about is just so childish and ridiculous! Like Mario and Zelda! One of biggest pet-peeves is games where you can't fight or kill things, and if you can, you can't do it properly (jumping on enemies for example *cough*Mario*cough*) or it isn't gory enough (enemies burst in to "shiny dust" when you kill them *cough*Zelda*cough*).

Mario and Zelda are def. not childish, some of those games are crazy hard adventure of link or mario 2 lost levels/jp I would seriously doubt any little kid had the patience to finish. And Windwaker I heard there are people who bought the game when it came out and have still not found all the little islands in it. The old ones weren't gory cuz the tech really wasn't there in the 8-bit days and Shigeru likes his games challenging, fun and accessible to everyone, if they made like a mario doom game it wouldn't make as much money cuz your cutting out everybody who's under 17. Just because the games aren't gory doesn't mean they're for kids, it just means everyone can play them cuz they aren't going to have a n M rating. :)

oh and something that just came to me is the old school castlevania games don't have gore either, when you kill guys they generally burn up or disappear. :)

Yes, but you're killing them with a whip!!!  :D

And a friend let me borrow Windwaker for a week or so (and I have to admit, I WAS addicted (i missed a lot of sleep ne day to play before school!)) but I had that game completely cleared easily.

If you like CastleVania and challenge, may I recommend Ninja Gaiden, for the NES or the Xbox.  The Xbox one was hellish to beat, but oh so entertaining...

Lucky bastard. Definitely let me know when you decide to sell it.

Also i would like to tack on the Myst series. i loved it since i first played with it years ago. It's probably the only thing i thank my metal shop teacher for. (dont ask...he was a moron) I haven't beaten the whole series yet though...just started Myst 5. (i tried playing it after Myst 4 revelations but i was a bit disappointed with its presentation. Myst 4 was beautiful and had such an immersive sense of touch.)

MM Battle Network Sig Project. And on the third day, Dr. Light said, "Let there be Roll."

Vandal Hearts
Zelda
Resident Evil
Final Fantasy (up until 10)

Nowadays you are either a graphics whore or a fanboy. BR is Shank not CV. It is ridiculous to think that it is better than CV. If it was CV then it would be what RE4 is to Resi, a series killer. Dumb it down and make it look pretty. Enough idiots will buy it.
