Anyone For a Vagrant Story HD Remake???

Ok, here is what i think. After seing some classic games getting the HD treatment, i thought, why not having Vagrant Story having an HD remake for the PS3 and even Xbox 360???

I know that we will never get a new game from that series, so why not at least make a remake in HD in a game, that i believe it's one of the most creative RPG games, along with other of it's genre, with a deep story and combat system. It has scored 40 on famitsu, making it one of the few games that they have been rated so high by Famitsu.

What i liked about the game, was the style of the graphics, human models and enemies, looked like they were real, something that has pushed the PSX on it's limits. The effects of spells/break arts or special attacks they were very nicely done. Also every weapon or shield you were making, was modeling in 3D, something that few games of it's genre were able to do the same at that time and in a remake, they could made the same for the armor......i'm just saying. The music of the game was outstanding in my opinion and the same goes for the sound effects!!! The story plot, was one of the best in a game, pushing you to play more and more, to find what was going to happen next!!! Also the think that if you wanted to complete the game 100%, you should have first cleared at least one time, was a plus for me, giving it more depth, since you couldn't get the best weapons or armor on first play through, making it more challenging.

Finally, what i didn't like about the game, was that it was a very short game, once you got to learn it. Even with the extra content, after finish it for the second time, still it was felt short. I wish that a remake would be possible, with some extra content, to expand it's replay value!!!

So, i'm waiting to hear your opinios, about it and if you want a remake of the game or no? Explain the reason, why you choosed your answer.

Loved the game, never beat it. And finally we won't ever see it because Square Enix is a bunch of douches.

I feel like most of the appeal behind VS's aesthetic was how it subverted PS1's limitations. That would probably be lost in a HD remake. It was also fairly stylized and I feel like it would be lost if SQEnix remade it.

Wasn't it made by Yasumi Matsuno, the Ogre Battle guy? I hear he's no longer at Square...left after making the TO re-release. T_T

I can see your point here, but what if they used something for the graphics, similar to Dragon Quest VIII style?

iirc Matsuno actually quit Square Enix before the TO remake, but now he's working at a different company so I'm not sure if he can still freelance.

W-Well, that's not the same style at all. I'm sure they can still manage to maintain the same style, proportions and etc, if they tried. It's just a concern that if they did remake it, they wouldn't incorporate that.

For me, the appeal was the combat. I loved it. It was very intuitive imo. Same combat system that was in Parasite Eve and that game too, was one hell of a gem.

Yes i know it's not the same style, but it is a very nice rendition of graphics. A remake with the same style, would kick ass, but as you mentioned above, they are very lazy to do something like that. They only port old games to the PSN Store.....that's really lame.....

I love the combat system and the way you are upgrading your equipment, spells, abilities and stats. There are so many crappy games these days.....psx was having a great library of games, ps2 also has a nice library of games, now for ps3......there are few good games, at least for me. For others there might be a lot more nice games. It depends on the taste it has everyone.
