WHAT?! I thought that the whole point of the game was supposed to be the story of what happened in the lost years between 2 and 4 with Raiden. At the end of 2, Raiden's all depressed and confused, but when he shows up in 4, he's an amazing badass with a personal mission. Identity achieved, and all that, then at the end he gets to live a relatively normal life with a family. It was touching, and full of closure.

So.... WHY THE HELL IS HE GOING NINJA AFTER 4, AND NOT BEFORE?! Ugh...

Yeah, I'll still play it.

The best thing about the trailer was the font.

'Revengeance' is such a clever title for a work of fiction.

It made me laugh too, especially since it was used on Metalocalypse. It was funny seeing it used in a non-joking way this time.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

WE HAD A GOOD STORY AND CHARACTERS, WE JUST NEEDED TO FIX THE GAME DESIGN

WE HAD A GOOD STORY AND CHARACTERS, WE JUST NEEDED TO FIX THE GAME DESIGN

WE HAD A GOOD STORY AND CHARACTERS, WE JUST NEEDED TO FIX THE GAME DESIGN

WHEN PLATINUM GAMES CAME UP WITH A NEW DESIGN, WE DECIDED TO COMBINE THE CHARACTERS AND PLOT WE ALREADY HAD WITH THEIR GAMEPLAY ENGINE

THAT'S WHY WE ACTUALLY TOTALLY TRASHED OUR ORIGINAL STORY AND RETCONNED IT INTO A MGS4 SEQUEL

Kojima you wacko.

btw I've already seen people (rightfully) criticizing the change since it craps all over MGS4's ending with Raiden regaining his humanity.

Yeah, how dare we let that guy find some fraction of peace and closure in his life after he figuratively killed himself to protect the human race.

I just don't get how that pseudo-documentary video was all WRITING WRITING WRITING WE HAVE A LOT OF GOOD WRITING; THE GAME ENGINE JUST NEEDED TO BE TWEAKED, and then they inexplicably threw months of writing out the window along with the old engine.

Those are my thoughts on that video.

That documentary is kind of funny. Such a serious thing about TEH TRUTH. And the game hasn't even been released yet. Maybe Kojima is feeling like the whole thing should have been cancelled.

yesterday I tried MGS 3 and by the time all the dialogues ended and I had to actually play I didn't want to anymore, same happened when I tried the first one. I'm sure the Metal Gear series is great I just... well it's not my style, way too much talking even just to save the game the characters started talking about Godzilla, I don't care about giant lizards I just wanna play the fucking game without being interrupted every 5 minutes you know lol.

However MGS Rising seems to be different, perhaps I can play this one. I'm looking foward to this game.

That's exactly that made me want to play the game - ephasis on storyline and dialogues. MGS2 was the first game where I stumbled upon such storytelling in the videogame. And to this day it still one of the brightest game experiences that I ever had.

You should also get your hands on the Gamecube title Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. It does what the later games do in terms of story-telling. There's much more there then in the original PSX MGS.

I don't have GameCube and not planing to acquire one in the future. As of now my PC is to weak for the GC emulation, so playing it is completely out of question.

From what I seen of this game (mostly cutscenes) it's really much better in presentation and voice acting than original MGS (of course die hard fans of the series will disagree with that), save for a few Matrix-like moments. Death of the Gray Fox and practically every major episode with Liquid Snake especially impressed me.
I played original MGS on PC, but it lacked proper articulate models with faces. Usually I'm not the one to complain about graphics, but since MGS is basically like a movie, I'd prefer to see it characters to be rendered as close to the human actors as possible. And it's really hard to take anything seriously, when characters doesn't have faces and have articulation of the  wooden manequines.

GREAT idea!

DMC1 was a better castlevania game than CVLOI and CVCOD anyway IMO.
