Like the Dungeon's founder, DiscoAlucard, the biggest thing about Lords is that every time I play it I always wind up turning it off to play Lament of Innocence instead. It's either Lament or God of War 2. If a game makes me want to play its predecessors/competitors instead, it's just not working.

Oh this one is easy: It's because LoS isn't a real Castlevania game and could have been any generic/stock action game with any other name.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks
DmC: Devil may Cry is the equivalent of trailer trash
"badly designed fat left on Lords of Shadow 2's bones."

Eh? While LoS2 is probably pretty certain at this point, that update doesn't really mention a LoS2.

Ahasverus, your LoS enthusiasm is really a bit too enthusiastic...

I loved LoS, and would like to see a sequel, but you are like, full on LoS fanboy... (no offense if any?)

That said, one thing I noticed about LoS is that in it's quest to reference elements from classicvanias, and use some of those elements and such, (even uses the Waterfall theme from CV4) Theres something else that Im surprised I didnt think about till now. LoS feels like it's trying to be a movie, a cinematic game, right? Everyone notices that, like it were "the game of the movie" and such. Well, in a way, that sort of brings back the cinematic style of classicvanias. Classic Vanias, particularly the NES ones, often had the film sprockets on the intro and title, to signify that it was like a movie, and as such, included the universal movie monsters. And LoS, brings that concept full circle and makes the game as if it was trying to be a movie. fidgety camera when you are standing still, snow on the "lens" during the rooftop segment of the castle, and the "big budget fantasy movie" vibe that many like to compare to LoTR.

Thats just an observation I felt like sharing.

The idle breathing camera was probably the game's most inspired visual design element, I'll grant it that. Uncharacteristically subtle, even.

Flame, though well-intentioned your rationale may be, the horror movie references of CV being comparable to the common modern cinematic game (like LoS) is pretty far-fetched. LoS does that crap with a serious face while in CV it was quirky humour. If the cinematicness of LoS was a reference to the original Castlevania, there is a whole pile of games that reference it too..

How? They are both cinematic quirks. That's all that really matters. The tone of the games ALSO changed as the series progressed. the classicvanias, such as the NES ones were very much a Universal monster movie love letter. Even the credits were parodies of horror actor names. Once the series progressed a bit, they dropped that and it started taking itself a bit more seriously. The movie-ness of the games was also dropped, in favor of just making the series more gothic horror.

Which culminated in Symphony, and continued afterward. LoS however, simply goes back to the cinematic style, but ithin it's serious tone.

Besides, if we are to take into account that technically the game is from Zobek's perspective, there is only but one possible answer.

Zobek was totally following Gabriel with a camera so he could laugh at him later.

I believe that the spirit of Castlevania has been it's ability to reinvent itself. That's what kept it relevant over the years, and that is what Konami has realized after Iga's reign brought it down to a B level franchise that mostly lives on hand held systems and online arcades.

Symphony of the Night was a great game, and so was Dawn of Sorrow, and Lament was amazing. I'm not suggesting that Iga is a bad developer. But Castlevania is bigger than what one developer can dream up, and it's time for someone else to have a turn at it. I loved playing LOS and anyone who tries to criticize it for being a God of War clone should take a good like at Symphony of the Night alongside super Metriod. No game can be 100% original these days.

I guess what I'm saying is; stop holding on to the past, open your mind a little, and let Castlevania move forward.

Already stated opinion on the game like infinity times, but a sequel with improvements in the right places would be godly.

Why would they update the page otherwise??

Because people are still buying and still able to buy LoS so keeping pages related to it up to date is a wise idea. Their last update was 23 days before that anyway.
