All this LoS hate... Why is it no thread here can go more than a few posts without leading into IGAVania vs CoxVania?

It's getting annoying at this point because all it ends up being is "Oh how sad... this game that isnt even castlevania :'("

and such comments, without any real discussion or reasoning behind them. Just mindless dislike because it's  not an IGAVania, which is what the franchise has been represented by for the longest time now.

The more I play it really, the more it reminds me of Classicvania. It's basically a classicvania dressed up in fancy shmancy 3D HD clothes. It's a pretty linear straight path, but gives the illusion of freedom by utilizing it's 3D element to include a few branching paths or platforming segments here or there that lead to goodies.  But the more you look at it, it's paths are very strict. You cant even go through the greenery sometimes. DEM INVISIBLE WALLS.

Also, I just noticed, and this surprised me, the track Waterfalls of Agharta is not played anywhere in the actual Level, Waterfalls of Agharta. Or at least I didn't notice it.

Weird.

Back on topic though, can we close this topic? wev'e already discussed the matter to death, and come to the conclusion that it was probably IGA's pitch that was ultimately scrapped in favor of Cox's pitch of a CV1 remake which became LoS eventually. We have no other information, and anything theorizing is really just that. opinions and ideas, all of which are endless but none of which are particularly useful for anything other than making arguments debates and lengthened discussions on nothing.

I love how the minute anyone mentions anything related to LoS, someone comes in with a DOESN'T FEEL LIKE CV and the thread is forever derailed into a debate of WHAT IS AND ISN'T CV. Every LoS thread starts out like this by default too.

What a guy, wait, isn't this bannable?

What's wrong with hokey? Am I missing some sort of horrible slang meaning?

It's bannable if you're from Tennessee
Hey, I'm in Tennessee!

I think the problem is more that when anybody mentions LoS, some people feel the need to be defensive about it, regardless of its relevance to the thread at hand.

word. The thing is, they read something they don't like then they feed into it, which drags it out further (i admit, i've been guilty of this too). Don't like what you're reading? Then stop fucking posting here & go to another forum, or ignore the topic altogether. Pleading for Jorge to "plz close this topic cuz i dont like what people are saying" isn't gonna end the LoS/IGAvania debates. No one's insulting each other's family members or anything personal, sheesh.

General Castlevania Discussion is no more. There should be some new categories: General CoxVania Discussion and General IgaVania Discussion, no crossovers allowed :P

There's way too much focus on producers and directors anyway. Back in the day you'd think "this is a konami game" and be done with it. Sometimes people would even say "this a nintendo game" if it was released on the NES. Today you're not even talking about what series a game is part of, it's all about the person behind it. Which is why we've gone from "I like Nintendo games" to "I like Konami games" to "I like Castlevania games" to "I like IGAvanias/Coxvanias". I wonder if people can narrow this down further? Cause GOD FORBID if anyone should just like Castlevania as a franchise.

I don't see how it's a bad thing that people responsible for video games are now actually recognized for their hard work, so long as discussions pertaining to it are carried intelligently, free of finger-pointing dramatics. I'd rather choose to think I'm supporting an individual person or a team under their guidance whose work I enjoy, instead of a faceless corporate entity that only hosts the talent and people who really matter.

For me isn't IGAvania or COXvania, Just Castlevania, i don't care who is making it, as long as it stays true to it's spirit and it is fun to play with it.

I'd say everyones to blame, everyone gets a spanking for being bad! :)

And yes the question at hand has been answered, the project was scrapped in favor of Lords of Shadow and will most likely stay scrapped.

If IGA is up to something we'll know in a few months, if we dont then.......oh well. *shrug*

here are two of the previous finding the Castlevania in LoS topics.

http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php/topic,2818
http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php/topic,3625

just for reference, since this thread has become what is and isnt Castlevania, like most threads seem to become nowadays that there isnt anything else to talk about.

Wait, I thought the radio drama was the sequel of SotN.

I can't say anything for sure but I read it was both, first they said it was SoTN sequel and later that the radio drama was also a prequel to the new game, apparently it left the story set for a plot were Alucard gets tempted again to the bad side and apparently Maria had something to do, it looks like he was going to kill her or something like that.
Pure guesses really, you may believe them or not.

Nothing like that. It ended with Alucard and Richter killing the Inccubus Magnus and Ryudmil sacrificing himself. The cliffhanger was about a purposedly shocking secret he told to Richter before dying. Also, Richter can't use the Vk anymore.

Everything comes full circle

I am not against associating certain people with games. In many respects it is the same as associating directors / producers with movies - you know what you can you get from the game that was created by that person. However, I admit, sometimes those debates goes a little overboard, since nor COX, not IGA are the only people in charge of their respective projects.

Some fans liked LOS and they tired of constant bashing from certain people who couldn't miss an opportunity to bash the game, regardless how much it is have to do with the topic at hand. It is natural response. I bet you do the same, if someone insulted one of your favorite games in the series.
