Nothing like that. It ended with Alucard and Richter killing the Inccubus Magnus and Ryudmil sacrificing himself. The cliffhanger was about a purposedly shocking secret he told to Richter before dying. Also, Richter can't use the Vk anymore.

I know the radio drama, I was talking about the possible plot of the canceled game and its relation to the radio drama.

All I'm saying is that it was easier before when everyone was naive and thought that Konami was a group of people making all Konami games. We didn't need names nor did anyone care. Today we know way too much. Much of the criticism that video game developers are facing today wouldn't have existed in, say, 1989 or even 1996. Imagine the DMC reboot if there was no internet. Nobody would've known that the developer was a douche and people wouldn't bitch about the game.

Not that this new knowledge is bad, it just makes talking about video games more complicated. Like, sometimes I don't know if people hate LoS because they truly don't think it plays like Castlevania, or because they simply know too much about the development. Like, just knowing that Mercury Steam made the game was offputting enough for many of us. IT'S NOT MADE BY THE SAME PEOPLE AND THEREFOR IT IS NOT CASTLEVANIA!

Knowing that it was almost turned into another game altogether doesn't make it better either. If we didn't know all that, how would the game have been recieved? If we didn't know about IGA, Cox or anything but the name KONAMI, what would've happened? Naturally we will never know.

I think LoS feels like a modern Castlevania. I just realise that I don't care for modern Castlevanias that much. I want retro. But at the same time I can't see how LoS could've been any other way.

I agree with Shelverton, LoS is the most modern you could get away with a ClassicVania in 3D, if anything, the sequel, as polished as it will be, will be even more distant from the old school conventions (good or bad? that depends on you).
And also, yeah, if this was the 90's LoS would have been just another Cv from konami and everyone's happy, but yeah times change.

Everything comes full circle

.
Dunno, I would think that since they can develop the sequel without the lingering question of "Will Konami let us make it a Castlevania game or make us turn it into a new  IP", they would have more freedom to include more of what they seem to like doing in LOS, which is re-imagining the old canon and parts of it in new ways, like old tunes and old enemies. Tons of things in LoS are shoutouts to the old canon, and that was with the game that flip flopped between Castlevania and IP till Konami made up it's mind. I would imagine the sequel to have much more of that.

ESPECIALLY now that they have both a Dracula, AND a Vampire Castle, which turned out to be sort of plot relevant, and seemed to get the most attention compared to the rest of the areas. And it didn't crumble either, unlike Walter's castle in LoI...

Wouldnt surprise me if the sequel has more of the same traveling through different areas, but eventually leads to a confrontation with Gabuella in the Vampire Castle. They have already established that it constantly changes, allowing for different level designs, (although the castle is so fuckoff huge that it doesnt even need to change, just set the areas in a different part of that huge thing) just like the old one did, and considering it's a Vampire castle and Gabe became a powerful Vampire... 2+2...

of course I could be totally wrong. But it's fun to speculate and later see just how close you were.

Some fans liked LOS and they tired of constant bashing from certain people who couldn't miss an opportunity to bash the game, regardless how much it is have to do with the topic at hand. It is natural response. I bet you do the same, if someone insulted one of your favorite games in the series.

As far as I know you're the only person bothers to reply to every post that contains criticism about Lords of Shadow, almost as if you think you can change our opinions that way, or that you somehow objectively right about all this. Other people who like that game have learned to let it go a long time ago, or are at least not being obnoxious when stating their opinion

I couldnt honestly get any impression from it since all it basically amounts to is a cutscene that doesnt exactly show much but Alucard being all dark and cool. I was certainly intrigued as to what they would do with a 3D Alucard, and how well they would do it, but cant say I had any sort of actual impression.

Its unfortunate that you refuse to acknowledge the fact that some fans had a favorable impression of it.

I for one am one of the fans that was really looking forward to it.

1.It featured the return of my favorite CV character Alucard
2.Alucard now done "properly" in 3D instead of that trainwreck in Judgment
3.It was heavily rumored to be a sequel to my favorite CV game of all time Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Those little things made me really look forward to it, also I wanted IGA to finally get his 3D formula right with this one and prove a lot of people wrong.

And the "2002" graphics things is a bit of a exaggeration IMO.

Sure they aren't that great compared to the standards of today, but they still weren't "early PS2" graphics like I heard some fans saying.

Also keep in mind that that was a very early "prototype" trailer that wasn't even ready to be shown yet.

For all we know IGA fully intended on updating the graphics once he actually got a change to fully work on the actual game.

That 10-second video was so blurry that I couldn't tell what kind of graphics it had.

hey pal, i like alucard and sotn as much as the next guy but that doesn't mean i'm going to be excited when i see a red eyed alucard that looks like he came straight out of super mario sunshine in a 20 second clip that showed nothing other than horrible graphics and that alucards life sucks

i don't think iga fully intended to do anything if this was his pitch going up against lords of shadow and the american teams game

to each his own though lil buddy

But yea, to each his own.

Just giving my 2 cents on the matter.

Im sorry to say that our beloved castlevania genre has reached its end IMO..

I would be satisfied if Ayami Kojima made well illustrated mangas of Cv I, II, III,  LoI, HoD, sotn and AoS to give us more back and future events of the storylines. there's great potential to make beautiful art as well as in depth stories..but that's just my dream I guess..

concerning the graphics, I think the budget has been the problem, more support and cash wouldn't have harmed=p
