So I've bought more HD collections now than I ever thought I would have.

So at this point, I find myself wondering what a Castlevania HD set would entail. Would they remaster Lament and Curse? Throw in an HD version of Legacy of Darkness (like how Perfect Dark got remastered on XBLA)?

Or would they try remastering DXC and it's games along with another 2D title? I honestly have no clue, but I'd like to hear what you think.

Opinions?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

The thought has crossed my mind, but Lament and Curse were ultimately not that popular or even critically acclaimed. It's the difference between these two games and all the other games/franchises that got HD Collections this generation.

I'd rather see 2D games get a 2.5D treatment and get released on HD consoles. Like CotM/HoD/AoS or DoS/PoR/OoE for instance.

An HD 2.5D collection of Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow would be a day-one buy for me.

I could imagine if did popular, they'd release a sequel collection for the three DS games.

Not a bad idea.

This topic is making me salivate.

I'd love to see:

NES
GB
SNES/Genesis
GBA
DS
SotN-Chronicles-Legacy of Darkness
PS2
Vampire Killer/Haunted Castle/Kid Dracula, etc...

... collections.  With the games having tweaked scripts and level design/mechanics where needed.

And then have a special release with ALL of them packaged together. All my money.  ALL MY MONEY KONAMI.

Of course I'll buy whatever CV-related trash they put on the shelves, but I'd rather have a simple compilation of the series.  And that would be the easier option for them, really.  If we haven't seen a compilation yet (not counting that shitty CV/Contra PC release), we're not likely to see HD remakes of some games that sold like shit in the first place.

Eh, I'm not big on buying things I've already bought once, unless there is some kind of significant upgrade. Even then unless it's years later I usually feel cheated. Konami, or rather the company Konami chose to farm the task out to, couldn't even get their HD re-release of Silent Hill 2 and 3 right. In the words of Jim Sterling "A day one patch for games that are almost a decade old!!!!" and apparently the patch didn't even fix most of the problems.

I will, however, be all over that Sly Cooper HD collection whenever I eventually get a PS3.

My topic-derailing senses are tingling!

I would LOVE it if Konami did that, but look at the way they've been handling their other franchises, like Silent Hill & whatnot.
The only 'collection' I've seen is the Castlevania Double Pack and the Castlevania & Contra Collection for PC.
They'd have to do a lot of reverse-engineering to "HD" Remaster everything, though it would be pretty awesome.
I can see them retrofitting the Harmony of Despair engine to remake the DS titles and even Symphony of the Night with new graphics.  However, with the older games they'll need a talented team of sprite artists to come back and retouch everything.  Add to that an audio remastering engineer to take the awesome tunes and either arrange them, or make new versions of them.
You must obey Da Rulez!

I do think an HD version of Legacy of Darkness would be pretty damn cool though. Especially if they added a CONTROLLABLE CAMERA. Or, you know, the decent lock-on system that Zelda robbed the N64 Vanias of.
