I've played against Carmilla (finally), and I found that she went down a lot faster and easier than Cornell and Olrox did. Also Malphas took a while; but in hindsight, that probably took longer because I had just come back from a week of Skyrim playing and had to remember everything.

Cornell bludgeoned my HP into the red zone a couple of times with his hammer (the wolf form was a cakewalk by comparison), and even Olrox managed to put a little pressure on me here and there, but at no point against Carmilla did I in any way feel threatened. I really hope the game's remaining bosses are not as inconsistent in terms of difficulty, because that will be annoying if it happens.

In terms of boss difficulty, what do I have to look forward to? Is it more logically progressive, or still weird?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I didn't really find the bosses difficult to begin with, so I can't really comment on what difficulty to look forward to, but...

For the Dragolich, be VERY patient. Rushing things will get you very frustrated also.

Against the Silver Knight, the fight can be very intense because of the constant need to switch magic.

Likewise, with the final boss, the need to switch magic remains. However, at a couple of points, you have to walk through circles in the ground with a certain type of magic, and this part is just annoying.

Other than that, though, yeah.

All the Carmilla bossfights in the series have the tendency to be easy though...

What's so hard about quick time events?
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks
DmC: Devil may Cry is the equivalent of trailer trash
"badly designed fat left on Lords of Shadow 2's bones."

Are you going to sit there and tell me that the first boss fight is more than just one giant quick time event?

The Great Warg in the village? Yeah, it is more than just one giant QTE.
