Great graphics and visual style but they are, ehm, how can I say it, too old school? I mean, their games are primitive and not very varied, contra was good for nostalgic value but would you like the anticipated entry of your favorite series being almost an old school remake? hmm.. Silent Hill Book of Memories was their first non-old school game, and look how that turned out.

I mean, they are a GREAT choice for a Classic-Vania a la Rebirth, almost too perfect, but I think the mainline series is somewhat bigger and far from their scope.

With all respect, I really would like my long anticipated Castlevania for the main timeline having retro graphics, those beautiful, beautiful 2D sprites we always loved until not so long ago (Order of Eclessia?), and of course, having the music that defines Castlevania as a saga, which I'm now missing so, so much these last years (be it Michiru Yamane or other composer... Jake Kaufman is perfect for the task in my humble opinion).
Now I'm tired, eternally walking... forever dying, and never stopping. I feel in sorrow, all I see is white. I’m following a blind way beneath a sad sky.

Platinum? Oh yes.
Way Forward? Oh no.

I think WayForward could do alright, provided they're strictly disallowed from just making it Bloodrayne Betrayal 2. Ain't nothing wrong with another 2D game, but I don't want to have to worry about comboing shit and learning a thousand different melee moves.

Besides, they made Contra 4. Contra 4.

Would prefer Platinum though. We need more good 3D entries.

Honestly, I think the past ten years should be solid proof that we're looking at two development styles -- 3D for consoles, 2D for handhelds.  But we know that KONAMI's never made a fully satisfying 3D Castlevania on their own, Platinum hasn't made any 2D side-scrollers, and WayForward hasn't demonstrated any ability to make decent 3D games.

So why not have two teams?  IGA's Konami team (or) WayForward for the 2D handheld Metroidvanias, and Platinum for the 3D console entries...

Personally, I would love to see WayForward's treatment of the series, especially since they've stayed true to Aliens and Contra source material before.  But that's only if IGA can't/won't take over again.

I have a passion for the old style as well , but dang I just want the series to move forward Let's not retread old tracks for nostalgia or something we need new concepts and fresh ideas like what has not been done in a 2d cv or how can the series improve upon the postive aspects of the 3d games. Lets just go towards a straight line.

If they're wanting to try new things, maybe KONAMI could get WayForward to produce a ContraVania crossover sub-series...

Not contra...

Something morer in lines of say ghost and goblins or zelda if  it is anything I learned in the past couple of day it's that crossove no matter how can work but cv and contra even that would be left field maybe suikoden would fit better?

What? Castlevania and Contra are connected at the hip just like Transformers and G.I. Joe!  I mean, I was only half-serious anyway, but there's nothing "left-field" about combining two franchises that have been subject to countless cross-promotional efforts in the last 26 years.

Speaking of cross overs, I'd love a new Wai Wai World type game.  Bring some attention back not only to Castlevania, but other classic Konami games/franchises that haven't had as much attention in recent years.

If they're bringing Castlevania and Contra together again, might as well throw in Goemon, Getsu Fuma, and some other "washed up" Konami stars and make a party out of it.  Sparkster would be a nice addition, and since I believe Konami owns Bomberman he could be worked in, too.  Hell, they could even bring Django from the Boktai series back.

I do not agree with a cv/contra crossover it makes no sense to me at least just the two together. ones aliens ones demons so something like fuma makes more sense since their in the same setting with the monsters and stuff as well as suikoden  since that series has a vamp themselves. So if anything contra would be better of having a crossover with gradius, but a konami wai wai world reboot would work since it brings together different franchises and meshes them well.

I want truly-authentic medieval Castlevania, based on folk-tales. "Real" Castlevania without double-jumps, super attacks what can destroy the world, Dracula who turns into gargoyle (why??!!). No talking horses and no titans!
