Are you saying that The Demon Castle Wars could allow players to create their own character, while Julius and others are NPCs?  If so, that could also allow for [optional] cooperative multiplayer on top of a choice-driven solo campaign.

I can see this for a multiplayer gimmick. But story-wise Julius is the hero whom defeats Dracula from the last time.

Nay. Lords of Shadow is already halfway to Platinum with all the combos and power-ups. If you removed all platforming and sped up the combat, you'd be even closer to Platinum. If anything, Castlevania in 3D needs to SLOW DOWN and get back to strategic action-platforming. Really, Castlevania 64 is the more the logical future direction.

I have to agree with this.  I have no doubts that if Platinum made the game it would be fun.  But I don't know if it would be Castlevania.

Honestly, I would love a new game like the 64 ones.  I always see people say they don't feel like Castlevania, but I still think they're the best 3D translation of the series thus far (Perhaps not the best games, but the best 2D->3D conversion).  The fact that developers are now capable of making 3rd person camera views that aren't complete crap should really help out, too.

I'd be fine with Platinum making entries in pretty much any game series I like; as long as Konami has joined the "We don't develop games internally anymore" fad they might as well farm the series out to a good company. I'm sure they'd have the wherewithal not to make it completely batshit insane like Bayonetta. Also a Masami Ueda composed Castlevania OST would be twelve eargasms at once.

Even more than Castlevania I want them to make Contra though. There can be a good 3D version, dammit.
