Anyone remember this unreleased title?
With the recent talk of older/unreleased/prototype titles, this one comes to mind.

Does anyone have the few screenshots, etc. that the game had?

These screenshots sure were a lot bigger in the 800x600/1024x768 days, ha ha.

Wasn't this just a hoax, though?

Some sources even touted this around as a sprite from the game:

Which was often shown alongside sprites from the 32X game.

D'moon apparently uploaded some slightly upsized (and embossed) versions:

I read somewhere that this is supposed to be a sequel to SOTN and a prequel to COTM, it even has Morris Baldwin in it...

But after some further search, this sequel/prequel thing seems to be a story that someone made up. As I recall, Richter did pass the whip directly to the Morris clan right? So it should have nothing to do with Morris Baldwin, regardless of the fact that the IGA timeline hasn't come up yet during COTM's release.

Pretty sure it was a hoax. Only thing we know is that story-wise the Belmonts passed the Holy Whip to the Morris' sometime during the 19th century, although it's still unknown whether it was actually Richiter or his heir (now that I think about it, Richiter was the last Belmont to wield it, we just have no idea who his heir was). This is the "grey area" of the timeline, which has yet to be filled with the finer details (other than Quincy defeating Dracula in 1897, obviously after Shanoa which I guesstimate to have been 30-50 years prior [OoE intentionally doesn't specify an exact year])

CotM should be and is viewed as a "stand-alone" game, separate from the canon timeline; the developers most likely intended to make a prequel game at one point due to certain elements in the story, but, y'know, things change.

I still want to see art based off of the Bloodletting Maria sprite.

http://images.wikia.com/castlevania/images/2/2d/Bloodletting_maria.gif

It looks SotN-ish.  Except cuter.  And pink.

This is all I know.

真 (Shin - True, Not New) DraculaX was "fake image joke". of fan site in Japan.
It was obviously written, "fake".

Someone exposed it to an English site.
(The person might not have been able to read the word of Japan)
The joke image has changed in quality to a malignant lie.
It was not a situation for which the author had hoped.
To avoid confusing, the author deleted the image.
And, Legends graphic hack (Google Translate) This is the same person's work.

Some sources even touted this around as a sprite from the game:

Which was often shown alongside sprites from the 32X game.
It's IGA's "Vampire Hunter Dot Art Collection".

I remember hearing about Shin Dracula X back when I was still in junior high school. CotM had not even been thought up yet, let alone the gameboy advance system. From what with the rumors going around at the time, this title was to be the official American release of the Japanese game 'Rondo' while others have stated it was a sequel to Rondo. regardless of it being afake or not, Shin Dracula X was in existence before the gameboy advance came along.

Totally!

Anyway, I didn't know about this game until I read it an hour ago in Jorge's comment on another topic.
It looks very interesting.

Well Koutei has confirmed that it was just a joke and an accidental hoax.
Still, good little history there, no?

I remember this. It actually got as far as magazine coverage with those two screens. Honestly, fake or not, it looked great...perhaps better than any 2D Castlevania post-SotN to date. There's a sense of classic danger to the level design, as well as SCVIV-like over-the-top SFX.

A similar hoax to this in more recent times was CV: Dual Moons.
