History is not against any odds. There are tons of great mp games that have a lot in common with cv. And I disagree about contra and dragons crown having nothing in common with cv. For 1 thing cv varies a lot from game to game. Contra is pretty obviously related to cv. There is a member here making a cv/contra fan game.

My personal opinion is that cv is better as a solo player game. But I'm not going to say that it couldn't work and be good.

I agree with the no multiplayer aspect in CV since the series has mainly been about the Belmont journeying to Castlevania alone to face the ultimate evil (Dracula). Multiplayer would kill that almost immediately. But I think a game styled like Golden Axe, or the two D&D arcade games (with no multiplayer mind you) would be an interesting take. Check out the game; Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga Episode III. There is a female fighter in there who uses a whip as her weapon. There is also stair-climbing in that game as well as climbing ropes & chains. It's like playing Castlevania except in a side-scroller, beat-em up kind way.

I've read a lot of the posts here, not every single one, but I noticed it's veered towards a multiplayer discussion. What did everyone think of Harmony of Despair? I kind of get the impression it wasn't very well received around here.

Ehh... Harmony of Despair wasn't terrible, but there was literally nothing new or interesting about it outside of it being a multiplayer game. Having played all the levels, grinding for loot was not enough to keep me interested.

I did enjoy spamming the voices though. "YOU TAKE THIS! YOU TAKE THIS!"

Yea I agree that the only good thing about HOD is that it was a multiplayer castlevania game that let you play with various castlevania characters online and with Friends.

That aspect alone made it sell so well.

Everything else about it fell flat however from the character balancing to the rehash fest of levels and enemies.

I would not mind seeing another castlevania online game, given how well it sold I would think that Konami would not either, I just hope if they do decide to make another online castlevania game that they take note of all the flaws of HOD.

I would like to see a cv game like oath in felghana or a arc systems fighting game like persona 4 arena why not an old school rpg it could work heck anything can work one just has to have have a solid foundation of an idea (not half baked like cv judgement) or a crazy enough mind or both.

Megaman X tried it, Sonic did it well, Why not have a game where segments are side-scrolling platforming and segments where it's full 3D action?

I played MMX7. I didn't like what they did with the game. Megaman and Megaman X are meant to be sidescrollers, not 3D. In terms of CV, I wouldn't mind another reboot if it was closer to the original source material.

In other words, Dracula is Dracula, the Belmont clan is the Belmont clan, Dracula is not a Belmont. Just give a good origin for the whip like LoI did, but make Dracula just Dracula. Not overblown origin is needed for him. Hell, just make him Vlad the Impaler like he originally was in the original cannon.

I concur! If anything, mostly to cut the bullshit. I'm tired of bullshit regarding the inept sleight of hand regarding twists. I think of the line from that old Jim Carry vamp comedy, "Once Bitten": "I'm a mature person and you're a mature person, so why don't we just skip all the bullshit, get rid of our inhibitions, and DO what we really wanna DO?"

Bypass that awkward foreplay. Not saying there can't be any twists, but invest your power in creative writing in something more fulfilling than the cheapo "Voila!" gag that you can see coming a mile away.

I feel the exact same way. The storyline for our CV fan reboot is exactly what you are describing here. I think our whip back story beats out LOI though.

Agree with this. Whatever cv does, please cut down on the eyerolling plot twists and just stick the basics. Besides, Vlad's life makes for very interesting backstory.

Even though I know it's a scrapped project I would absolutely LOVE to see resurrection be resurrected. Only with updated graphics. I wouldn't mind the original but I know a lot of critics would complain about it. I always dreamed of seeing this particular game seeing some light of day.

I want to see it completed too. It was essentially like CV64/LoD only more action oriented then open world. But the overall functions; combat, movement, items, etc. look very much the same as their Nintendo 64 counterparts. Unfortunately it's somewhat impossible to tell exactly how this game would play since we never got to play it  :P
