Sorry X, I did mean *ebony stone*

I assumed Mathias absorbed/ took possession of this when he absorbed Walter
No, as someone else already mentioned, Leon destroyed the Ebony Stone. If I remember correctly, once you land the first hit after the first cut scene, there is a second one in which you see sparkles fall of Walter's chest plate and Leon says: "Now there is nothing left to protect. I will fulfill my promise to Sara now!!!" It's also why after the battle and Mathias absorbs Walter's soul, he leaves. He even says: "Dawn is coming" before he leaves. At which point he tells Death that Leon is all his.

Interesting.. I didn't recall as last time I played it through was when it was released. I would really like to do a playthrough on Crazy mode and rewatch those scenes.

EDIT: actually I just watched it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odoMOJFsYFM and you hear a shattering and see a pink sparkle @ 1:24, but is this actually hard enough evidence? We actually see the Crimson Stone, why not the Ebony...

The only thing from either of those games that I would like to see again is how the subweapons were handled in Lament of Innocence.

I really liked how say, the Axe wasn't just "The Axe" oh hey, throw it and you're done, there, that was "The Axe".

But by equipping different orbs you got a variety of different Axe attacks. That's something I'd like to see again, varied attacks with sub weapons outside of normal, and item crash.

Well, the notion of an order of time travellers who set things right in the Castlevania universe was brought back for Castlevania Judgment. But it was quite possibly the dumbest idea in Curse. You could strip out St. Germaine and the plot would lose absolutely nothing.

There were other plot points left hanging. Why does the Abandoned Castle look more like Castlevania than Castlevania itself? Why is there a portal to the eternal corridor in said castle that only a Belmont could enter? Until that point, it was just that - an abandoned castle. Is the eternal corridor the Belmonts' spare room? Why and what is Dullahan guarding that causes Castlevania to return? Was he doing a favor for Trevor?

Don't even get me started why Trevor was said to be hanging onto life by a thread and then...forgotten by the ending. Maybe he died and the pachinko games are his Hell.

The Innocent Devil system was pretty addictive, but I wish they didn't make them look straight out of a saturday morning cartoon for most of their appearances. That, combined with Curse's bright and cartoony interface, really clashed with the otherwise dark story and art work.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing the return of the weapon forging system. I remember when OoE's first promo screens were released and one of them was Shanoa opening a chest and getting a piece of bronze. Some people thought the forging system was returning.

Saint Germain was probably Curse of Darkness' most memorable character. How could you even dream of stripping him out?

Dawg, Zobek is where it's at in terms of memorable Curse characters.

Zedd was the shittiest character and a lot less memorable than Saint Germain. Zedd was a half assed step toward Zobek.

SG had swag, finesse, was a snappy dresser and brought something different to CV. Plus who do you think Eneomaos really was? Not just some random unknown who knew a lot about Devil Forging (Alchemy). It's no coincidence you get the time stop ability before the machine tower, and SG is the boss there.

Oh wow, I actually referred to Zedd as Zobek. Derp.
Also I didn't say I didn't like St. Germaine, but the concept of a time traveller could be left out and nothing would be lost in the story.

Close enough -- it's Zead.

Zedd was the shittiest character and a lot less memorable than Saint Germain. Zedd was a half assed step toward Zobek.
No, Zead was an entirely different character. His manner oozed with the silky cynicism that made him such a memorable Death incarnation. Even Zobek never managed to rival that sense of malevolent charisma Zead exuded when he was speaking.

Zobek had an air of malevolence to him at least. Zead was an Irishman after a long night drinking at his local... HATE IT!

I wouldn't exactly use "memorable" to describe Zead.
