It's pointless. I know. And yet. Maybe I'm just stupidly hopeful like that.

I really feel we got cheated on Victor in LOS2.

The game IMPLIES and TELLS YOU all these awesome things he did (like painstakingly gathering Gabe's old gear from the ruins of the Castle) which would have made prime DLC material, and we never got it. He's in the game a grand total of 15-20 minutes depending on how leet your skills are at beating his boss fight, and that ending was just freaking contrived from nowhere.

A DLC would have given him a starring role, even playing on his Resurrection version with him starting off somewhat unwilling to take the lead in the defense of the city, but quickly realizing that there is no one else to do it-- he is the best and only man for the job. So off he goes into the bowels of the city, into the ruins of the Castle, to gather the equipment that helped Gabriel 1,000 years prior. Just a couple hours of gameplay and some minimalist story sequences here and there to make up for the 15 minutes of waste.

Throw in some MoF Simon and Trevor Belmont skins, and maybe a classic Belmont design like Leon or DXC Richter thrown in for good measure.

For 8-10 bucks, I'd have bought that.

Not begrudging the DLC we did get (combining Armored and Dark Dracula for one sweet look on my current playthrough, and OMG ALUCARD IS BACK), but there just feels like... there's a hole there. And it bugs the crap out of me. Probably the one time I will say they didn't put out quite ENOUGH DLC. (May the gods strike me down for saying such blasphemies)
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Yeah, the way Victor was handled was very disappointing to me. I don't think we'll ever understand why the last Belmont was so poorly executed. Was this guy really going to be called Julius? Thank God he wasn't, because that would have been a major insult to the real Julius.

It reminds me of why I love Mirror of Fate so much. I loved the tragic story of the Belmont family and their reasons for going up against Dracula. I especially loved Trevor's story (the parts where he says farewell and is slain by Dracula are my favorite parts.) And remember the tagline for the game? (Discover the Belmont's true, shocking fate?) Was it to go up against Dracula? Was it that they were the only one who could face him, but they would never really be strong enough to defeat him? Were they all destined to die by the hands of Dracula?

None of that matters in Lords of Shadow 2 with Victor Belmont and his death.

It comes back to the part I find strangest about MS's involvement with CV - the feeling like they wanted to be done with it as soon as possible while making 2.  The insistance of no more games ever, despite Konami desperately trying to persuade them otherwise.  It's unlike what you normally see from studios.

Right now, most game devs would be working on porting the game too Ps4/Xbone as an edition that 'fixes' all the complaints.  But it seems someone wanted to be done with Castlevania, I wonder who? ;)

Leon never had a classic design as he only appeared in one game. And DXC Richter was Kojima's latest interpretation of him to date. If you want a classic Richter look then you go with his Rondo version. Leon just doesn't have one. But don't worry. I know exactly what you mean  ;)  Having a Victor Belmont story very similar to it's Resurrection counterpart sounds like it would have worked much better. And we would've been that much closer to actually seeing an element of Resurrection in action.

he didn't get the relics from Dracula's castle, the brotherhood did, long ago when Dracula was "defeated"
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

There should have been DLC for Victor considering that he only had a ten minutes cameo.

And a bad one to start off with.

I have a feeling that if there's more DLC in the works, it's either Victor Belmont DLC, or a true ending DLC.

I doubt it. MS said they were done with it. Then again, they said that they were done making games. They said nothing about DLC from what I know. Plus, they've lied and pulled the BAIT AND SWITCH before. So, anything is possible.

I for one would welcome a more definitive ending. If they truly intended in only having LoS being three games, then there would need to be a final, definitive ending to tie up all the loose ends.

I agree Lumi, such a letdown.

It's almost as if MS felt like they won enough, then they made a hasty retreat.

They have to know at this point we crave nostalgic moments and would probably benefit from giving us a couple of bones. But nope, we got what we got and that's it.

I keep thinking about how satisfying a Victor Belmont that wasn't just plot device would have been. :P

Note Victor was called Julius during development (cf. game data).

Perhaps, Victor Belmont was originally going to kill Dracula after Dracula killed Satan. it would also explain why he was originally named Julius. After all, in the old cannon, it was Julius Belmont who killed Dracula for good (with the help of others). My guess is when they decided to give the game an ambiguous end with Dracula "alive", they decided to change the name to Victor.

And to be honest, such an ending in which "Julius Belmont" and Trevorcard teamed up to kill Dracula in an epic final boss fight ending with the complete destruction of Dracula for good may have been better received by our CV community. (my opinion)

I'm pretty sure that ending is what everyone was thinking of and wanted to see.

Maybe we will get it as free DLC. I mean look at what happened with MASS EFFECT 3 (not likely I know).

The ending was so horrible, that to me personally, the storyline ends where the epilogue of the first game ends, because it's perfectly done. What's so tragic is that Gabriel's words "I cannot die, yet, I cannot live." are rendered meaningless in the second game.

As for a true ending DLC, I would certainly rather get it and have to pay for it than not get it at all. I can't accept this game until I get the ending we ALL wanted: Dracula redeeming himself, going to heaven with Trevor, and being with God and family again.
