Looks pretty cool (really liking some of the character interaction, even though the script is a tad cheesy, the genre does benefit from this refreshing game).   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Um9ATWfN8    Heard it might get expansions too (like a free roam mode that supposedly adds random encounters).   People say the game already has some clever secrets.

Oh hey, it's the one made by folks from my nation. Glad you're liking it.
As for the cheesy script, yeah, we're suckers for cheesiness. :V
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

I played the demo. I thought it nothing special...a retread of Fatal Frame except the main girl moves slower. :/

Looks like it controls very similar to RE4.

Well actually I didn't mean cheesiness in a bad way.

If anything the dialogue is more mature and natural than most survival horror games out there.

Also I wouldn't call it a retread of Fatal Frame. that's like saying Dino Crisis is Resident Evil with just dinosaurs (when it's really more different than that.)  or Saints Row ___ is "just another GTA".

None of the Fatal Frames have this exact scenario and cast of characters, nor lore.

FF1 took place in a Japanese mansion.

FF2 took place in a Japanese village

FF3 took place at a Japanese house and the house of sleep.

FF4 took place in a Japanese hospital pretty much.

the camera vs ghosts formula is still VERY rare and largely unexplored compared to all the medieval rpgs and military shooter games out there.

Dreadout taking place at a school, and its surroundings, is very unique in itself considering that part of the world still brings
different and fresh flavor and culture to the experience as a whole.   I mean even from the starting point to the trip all the way to
the school, is unlike any other survival horror experience.

If Capcom made this game, everything would be a cutscene right up to the point of entering the school.
but DreadOut makes an extraordinary and more immersive interactive approach to traveling to the school and setting things up there. Every moment really adds much more human feelings and more hands on experiences, even when there is "nothing" going on, it's still
a part of the journey.

It's really quite fascinating and cool in new ways.

Almost a unique experience. Don't forget that the original Silent Hill had an area that took place in a school. That creeped me out as my friend was playing that area in his room with the lights out. Plus it was night outside too. But it got even more spooky when he crossed over to the school in the other realm and there was that strange organ-esque tune stomping in the background.

SH1 school really is scary.  SH1's Dark World really is intense, really like it more than just the plain "other world" or whatever it's called the others use.  SH1 really used darkness to greater levels, even outdoors.   Though yea I recall SH2 and SH3 had it, though think not as much or as frequently.

I dunno.  overall SH1 felt much more profound than the others.   Don't think SH2 deserves more praise than the first one.
