So, after watching that React video with the retro gaming, it made me want to play some retro games.  Then I got to thinking how I wish some of these games would come back, either revamped or all new.

Maybe they aren't the most amazing games...but I think I'd like to see Wizards and Warriors make a comeback somehow.  The three NES titles were freakin' hard games (well, at least the first 2), and I don't really know how they'd add a new title considering how the 3rd ended, but maybe an update or new title would be neat.

Any particular NES era game you'd like to see re-released somehow?  (Maybe one that's not quite as well known?)

Wizards & Warriors are tough games. I only ever played the one for Gameboy; Wizards & Warriors X: The Fortress of Fear. The only way I ever finished it was using the gameboy game genie.

I never played the GB one, but I loved the 3 on the NES.  Like I said (sorta), there wasn't much to them...but the music was good, and they were just fun, even if the were hard!  I remember being a kid (and when "Erol's" was the place to rent from - in my neck of the woods) and I always wanted W&W when they had it, even though I usually couldn't even get past level 1 without dad to beat the boss!
I've beaten them all by now.  The third is easy up until the final boss.  I still need luck to get to the end of the first two.

Another game I'd like to see make a comeback is Battletoads!  There were a couple of titles I think, but I only ever played the NES one.  While I have my doubts that Wizards and Warriors could find a place anywhere these days, I would think Battletoads would still work really well!

If there are no lesser-known NES titles you want back, what about SNES, GB or Sega?

Ironsword is definitely tough, but the original Wizards & Warriors is a bit of a cakewalk.  Well, after you've played it start to finish 50 times like I did as a kid.  It would definitely be nice to see a new game in the series, but I'd be afraid it would go the "y so srs" route like Splatterhouse.  It's definitely been a long time since the last Battletoads, at any rate.  It's really weird to see how long Rare has been sitting on that property.  Or maybe it's tied up by Tradewest?

A new Double Dragon would also be good.  Gradius is another.  Actually, forget all that.  I want the sequel to Nightshade on the NES that we never got.
Braun is perhaps the world's leading expert in laser weaponry, and his presence in the Kavango means that the Soviet bloc is planning some sort of laser mission.

Vice: Project Doom. This game had a very intriguing and captivating story via cinematics. The plot was solid and to this day I wish they followed up on it. The first game just left me hanging as it clearly spells out sequel at the end. The game itself had three different styles of gameplay. overhead view while driving your car and shooting thugs, first person shooter while the screen scrolled, and finally the well-known side scrolling which is the most prominent of the three. And another game I'll just throw out there would be Codenamed: Viper. This title also deserves a sequel. What happens to you after you figure out your commander is the one dealing out the Hug Drug operation in South America and thus killed him? What becomes of agent Smith after the fact? This game needs a sequel to tell the story.

They should do a new Bomberman game in Super Bomberman-style, with co-op in adventure mode, not only these arena things. Also a new Magical Quest would be cool, imagine a Magical Quest starring Mickey and Goofy lol

YES. That would be pretty awesome. As stupid as it sounds, Dark Souls II kind of reminded me of the first Wizards & Warriors game. Not sure why.

This could be pretty cool. Though I'd probably have to pass if they made it as hard as the original, with limited continues. The NES game was really well-made, but it's a shame that not many people got to experience much of the later stages, music, etc.

They could always make it a beat-em-up like they did with the arcade version. They cranked up the violence and humor on that one, and it was quite a bit of fun to play. Shame they didn't follow up with a sequel.

A new Double Dragon would also be good.

Oh man, if only. DD1 for the arcade is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm a big fan of the series in general. It's nice to see the series somewhat staying alive with the mobile games and Neon, but I'd like to see someone progress the series (instead of remakes of the first two games) while staying true to its roots. If I can't have that, I'd be happy with a Neon sequel, I guess.

I wouldn't necessarily want another Eternal Champions per se, but if something could match the sheer brutality of the finishers from the Sega CD version, that would be great. Same deal with Combatribes; it wasn't a great game, but it had some pretty vicious stuff in there (smashing enemies heads into the pavement/into each other, the crime boss being shot and killed before the final fight with Martha Splatterhead, etc.).

It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

I didn't know there was anything beyond the NES title, the SNES title, and Battletoads and Double Dragon (or was that the SNES title?).  I think I would want it almost "NES-hard", but I wouldn't be completely against it being actually NES-hard.  The difficulty and limited continues was annoying -- I was in my late-teens before I ever got past the "!" Jump-by-yourself section of the jet bikes -- but somehow, for me, the game was made well enough that I never disliked the game.  It stayed fun somehow.
But you're right, it was awfully difficult, and I'm sure that turned people away then, and might turn even more people away now, so dialing back the challenge a little or having a difficulty setting might be a good idea.  Or...wasn't there somewhere that Nintendo/Miyamoto thought about adding an option to let the game beat a level for you if it was too tough, or at least show you how to do it?  That could be another option, as long as it was an option!  I won't judge anyone else for using it, but I'd rather pass.

Bomberman for mobile would be really cool and easy to do I think.
That's a pretty good idea.  I haven't checked, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a clone or something out there in the app world though.  It could be very easily set up to be a casual game though...play a level or three and close your app to get back to life, then continue where you left off later.  However, the most fun I ever had with a Bomberman game was the multiplayer mode on the 64 game (I forget the title).  With the map layouts, ginormous explosions, "curses", "plagues", and ghosts, that game got pretty frantic when my cousins and I played!

A modern 2D update to MetalStorm would rock.

I was thinking about playing with some faux mode 7 in game maker the other day and I was looking into Hyper Zone for SNES.
It then occurred to me that Hyper Zone would make a good base for a ROMhack set up as a prequel to Star Fox.

Have you played the versions of Ys 1 & 2 available on Steam? Now there's a couple of great retro games remade/updated beautifully.

Star Tropics deserves a new game, maybe on the 3DS. It could be done in a similar style as A Link Between Worlds. Or something.

Oh, and Demon's Crest! Well, the entire Ghouls'n Ghosts franchise deserves to be brought back tbh. I actually loved the PSP game and I hate how it had to end there (not counting the smartphone games)

Finally, I think this world needs more Plok!

I know we've seen a remake and a reboot, but the world needs more retro Bionic Commando.
