I use emulators, and this stuff really wouldn't wow me unless I was the one getting 6541.56€ for it.

No different crash, this was a price crash because the age range for NES had reached an age where they had jobs and disposable income, so values rose on those games and dropped on the 2600 games (there are other reasons as well, but that's unknown to myself as I don't collect A2600 titles). For a short while much like NES, SNES, some N64, and Saturn games now, Atari 2600 games were going up in value for collectors. That bubble popped and prices bottomed out for pretty much everything but the rarer Atari 2600 carts.

I think it's just a natural cycle. Right now people who grew up with the NES are mostly in their 30s and trying to relive their childhood by going back and exploring the NES because as you say they have disposable income now. The Saturn is a bit different because it was a total flop and now there's a lot of "hidden treasures" on there though. Ironically the Saturn's library of 2D centric games have aged much better than the 3D games on the PS1 that crushed them at the time. Prices for non-rare games will probably go back down eventually, though not to pre-bubble levels.

Really? When I lived in Japan, Saturn systems were everywhere only like $30 yen and the games were dirt cheap as well. Of course that was years ago, but my video game collection multiplied by x because the yen rate was in my favor and the availability of games and non US releases were everywhere!

The US sellers on ebay, and the resellers have jacked the prices up on them. Japanese sellers still tend to be farier with their prices, but the shipping to the US would be ugh.

Oh yeah, I like to shop on Ebay, but their practices really suck now! I do tend to see Sega Saturn's ever now and then at flea-markets though, you can get decent deals on them too!

Used to commonly see Saturn's and DC's down here, but since my laser lens is slowly wearing out on my Saturn, I've yet to see another at the Play N Trade. The last Sega system I saw there was a model 1 HDG Genesis, not sure which make it was though, the first revision had several different versions, just can't remember which had the best sound to it.

The swap meet I have seen a few Genesis titles, but the lady never as Saturn titles, or Saturn's. May have to break down and eventually get a Japanese Saturn, as a good chunk of my 43 game Saturn collection are imports. However the PAR 4 in 1 I own can be used for the US games I have.

What about getting a new laser lens? Or if you have the knack for hardware you could always find a way to repair it.

You could also softmod a original Xbox with XMBC. You should be able to find a original Xbox at pawn shops and game dealer's. I did that with mine and I was able to use it as a multi system for PSX, Saturn, Sega CD, etc.

It was pretty convenient having one system that played all those different console disks I had. I have found members of popping my original PC Engine Dracula X disk in there and being able to play it.

I eventually sold that particular Xbox, but I still have the game needed to softmod it as well as my Xbox Pro Action Replay.
