On another note, Soma Cruz is a foreign exchange student. He isn't Japanese, and judging from his surname he's, at least partially, of Hispanic descent.

Now that be an interesting twist...a Belmont and a well liked one at that, turns evil on his own and gives into the darkness.

It's from the US Dracula's Curse manual.

Both the poltergeist and exchange student things are more "weird stuff the localization team added" than translation errors.

From the dialogue in SotN it's safe to say Richter was under Shaft's control, not brainwashed.

Why would badRichter go on that woe-is-me spiel about sheep and wolves and everything, then? I think whatever bad mojo Shaft laid down amplified Richter's own feelings.

Any guesses yet as to who Shanoa's going to turn out to be, if the "codename" is indeed to conceal it?

... Maria! She might be the right age, depending on the exact year, and she's the last person who'd sit on her ass when there's trouble.

... Fernandez descendent #27! Every time there's a witchy woman playable in a Castlevania game, Konami's sure to make her kin to Sypha because it adds DEPTH.

... Alucard! Hey, he goes black for AoS!
Soleil, not Soleiyu
Orlock, not Olrox
Bathory, not Bartley
Richter, not Richiter

She is most likely tied to the Belnades/Fernandez IMO.

Afterall, IGA usually goes the obvious route.

It is unlikely she's Maria o_O to say the least. Doesn't look a thing like her, and chances are Maria would be too busy looking for Richter again anyway(Or figuring out how to open Al's coffin :P)

No, I think you have this confused with an incubus.

Crack theory:

What if... Saint Germain transported Richter into the future to battle away Soma Cruz as Dracula's reincarnation? After all, in the Sorrow games, Julius is too old for the job and got his butt handed to him by the flame guy in Dawn of Sorrow (which kinda of pissed me off). Julius doesn't seem to have any descendants, otherwise they would have shown up as the Belmont in duty for the time. The whip stayed behind so it could fall into Julius' hands by 1999 and was left guarded by the Morris family.

Problem with the theory is, now that we are missing a Belmont, how did they, you know, procreated? We could say that Anette was left with a baby, and since Richter was not around to train him the whip was forced to switch hands, and that solves the issue. The Belmonts would have to retrain themselves to use the whip again, which would somewhat contradict Eric Lecarde's words in Portrait of Ruin, saying the Belmonts can't touch the whip until 1999. However, could it be that the Belmonts had to ready themselves for this date?

Unfortunately, that's all most likely true. It would have been cool if she was Maria, but then again, Iga isn't that creative. It would have been really cool though if the main player of the game actually WAS Maria, who had joined up with the Order in search of Richter. It's also not unlikely that we'll see Richter, Maria, and/or Alucard in this game also, considering the situation and time period. That guy that Shanoa is talking to in one of the screens looks kinda like Al, IMO.

I think there's a pretty good chance we'll see Richter in some form. IGA loves to use him as a scapegoat for the story, and he has to explain what happened to Belmonts anyways.

What if the gun wielding guy that IGN spoke of is a Belmont? They can't use the whip so...meh, just a thought. XD

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

Anything's possible.

I'd like to think it's Sir Henry, but IGA killed him :(

I thought it might be a Morris honestly.  I mean, I'd like to see his overall design and such, but the fact that he's a gun slinger helping with the destruction (possibly) of Dracula just reminds me of Quincy and his role in the original story.
