Alcarde Spear
|
The Alcarde Spear is the primary weapon used by Eric Lecarde in
Castlevania: Bloodlines. It can extends either left or right, plus
upward or diagonaly upward. It starts off as a normal spear, but
it soon upgraded into a trident, and then a axe-like head that opens
up when fully extended to destroy enemies from the insides. The
spear can also be used to pole vault horizontaly upward. It can be
upgraded to have flames coming out of the tip of the spear.
|
Ball of Destruction
|
The fireball is shot out of the cape of Alucard. Its range is
almost half the length of the screen, but isn't quite as powerful
as a Chain Whip. When powered up once, two fireballs are fired at
the same time, one heading straight, the other upward at an angle.
When powered up again, three fireballs are fired: straight, diagonal
up and diagonal down.
|
Chain Whip
|
This whip usually comes just before the Vampire Killer in many of the
CastleVania games. It's a relatively strong whip, and comes in handy.
The Chain Whip has a striking distance similar to the Leather and Thorn
Whips. It serves up a pretty good whippin'.
|
Doves
|
Maria's main weapon in Dracula X Duo. the
birds cover roughly the same distance as Richter's whip, but two can be thrown
consecutively before they return...so rapid attacks can yield more damages.
The fact that they loop back like a boomerang also does extra damage.
|
Flame Whip
|
This whip is similar to the Vampire Killer. It's the strongest whip you can find
in some CastleVania games. The Flame Whip has the longest striking distance,
and the only real difference between it and the Vampire Killer Whip lies in where
it draws it's power. The Flame Whip is backed by fire magic, which allows it to
either become engulfed in flame (like in CV2) or release fireballs (like in CVA).
Dracula X allows you to perform a "fire whip" in which the whip extends half the
length of the screen and sets all in the way on fire. Symphony of the Night allows
you to power up Richter so that his whip is consumed in fire for a short period
of time, instead of just for one burst. In CastleVania 2, you first aquire the
Morning Star Whip and can have it magically enhanced to become the Flame Whip.
|
Leather Whip
|
This is the whip you start off with in many of the CastleVania games. It's
a basic whip, and not too powerfull. The Leather Whip also tends to lack in
striking distance. It serves better than being empty handed.
|
Morning Star Whip
|
This whip comes in just before the Flame Whip in terms of power. It's a
relatively strong whip, and is good to have. The Morning Star Whip has a
striking distance longer than the Chain Whip. It's the third best whip.
|
Staff
|
The staff is an extremely weak weapon used by Sypha. It's about as
powerful as a Leather Whip, but without the long reach. Really only
useful for breaking enemies that have been frozen.
|
Thorn Whip
|
This whip comes in just after the Leather Whip in terms of power. It's an
average whip, but you'd be better off looking for another upgrade.
The Thorn Whip has the same striking distance as the Leather Whip. It's
better than having no upgrade.
|
Vampire Killer Whip
|
The Vampire Killer Whip is strongest whip found in some of the CastleVania
games. It is equal in power and length to the Flame Whip. The only real
difference between it and the Flame Whip lies in where it draws it's power.
The Vampire Killer Whip is backed by the Soul Energy flowing in the blood
of the Belmont family of Vampire Hunters. This allows it to decimate the
undead, right up to the Count himself.
Standard in all games is to whip snap, in which the whip is brought
behind the back and thrust forward at the enemy. Castlevania 4 also
lets you whip around in any direction, creating the effect of true
whip slinging. Castlevania 4 and Bloodlines also allow your character
to use their whip to swing over chasms. In practically all Castlevania
games, the backward snap of whip when your character does a normal
attack can also damage enemies.
