Gossip.... future of MercurySteam

Me: Well, and what now?

He: What now?

Me: Yeah, what's the next game?

He: If you mean Castlevania, none

Me: I know, but how is it?, is a car game, a strategy, a shooter, a rpg....

He: Hahaha, not a car game, strategy, or a shooter, has some RPG and I will not say shit more.

Me: For the new consoles?

He: It is our intention, depends on the publishers ... in PC I can tell you almost for sure. The PC now is probably the best platform that can grow in the coming years, we have no clear what will happen with this new generation of consoles (me at least). But hey, no problem, of what we tasted, great, very simple and fast to have the games in all formats and with the same quality.

Me: Great, because I have not thought to buy any of the new consoles, well, I doubt the PS4, but, depends on the publishers?... Do not want Konami? I am very surprised.

He: Konami wants us to do something other than what we have in mind, now the subject is stationary, until after a month before lOS2 output, we will meet and see what happens. Furthermore, not only is Konami, many other publishers who were interested in us in the past year. We understand the game we want to do, I think we will reach an agreement with Konami, and if not then to find another way ... so this works.

Me: And in the company, will they fire people?

He: I have not heard anything concrete, man, he hired more than 20 people to cover specific workloads, I guess next will depend on the project and the number of platforms they leave.

Me: and you..?

He: don´t fuck, I hope not, I've been here from the beginning.

Me: Listen, you're not going to make a new Castlevania, is finished the series?

He: Yeah right, no more Castlevania, no metal gear solid and no PES (tease me) ... hahaha. If you want to know if there will be another Metroidvania and if it does japanese team... Do not know much, better ask him Dave Cox, the last thing I hear is from early this year (2012). First they had the intention to continue the old story in parallel with Lord of Shadow, but maintain two temporary lines of the same game simultaneously, never been done and no sense. After talking about going alternating the two timelines every two games for variety, the idea is not bad but on short/medium time we don´t like to make a game related to LOS, at least in the next three years. Finally they wanted to do something like Final Fantasy, where there is no definite history, there is a world related but each story is different.

Me: And the story of IGA?

He: The logical thing would be that they finalized, with one or two games, before starting this new stage in Castlevania. But really i have no idea.

Me: and the next, Is it 2D? For what formats?

He: All I know is technical, was in the working document that we received. I can tell you that will be released for portable platforms, whether it will be in 2D or 2.5D was not yet decided, will depend on the team that take the project, but I can tell you that they really liked the graphics of MoF. said nothing about it to be a Japanese team, particularly I think so, because after a game for the West now seek other to the east.

Me: Also released in Vita?

He: In the worksheet put 3DS, Vita, iOS, Android, want to seize all platforms. They do it in the Vita for the Japanese market, the next castlevania is intended primarily Japanese market, and vita is enough important in Japan (not in America / Europe).

Me: And when going out?

He: I do not know the team that gave it, Hahaha, but we were asked MoF technical material for quite some time. I think they are working on it now. if I had to go for a date ... pufff, I think the end of next year it could be perfectly ready.

Me: Great, thanks man and good luck with LOS2

He: I hope so, goodbye.

And while they're at it do NOT touch any other infamous franchise either. Do your own thing. Thank you.

Nice comments, you send it by email to Konami ....
MercurySteam was a young company with only a PC game (Jericho) of experience, looking for work, presented a technical demo, Konami gave them work and told that their game would be a Castlevania (supervised by Kojima).

What crime has he committed? For me, besides I would have liked to enjoy one classic Castlevania, have done a great spin-off with its faults like all games, but since then they have been working and desire (and incidentally, what Konami has GOOD CHEAP)

Do not kill the messenger, do not worry that you can now hate the new company, or will we be so hypocritical to do otherwise?

P. D. Castlevania was not born with IGA, we tell all those who have more than 30 years. When a Japanese company changes things okay, when you do a Westerner, is wrong, the way things are.

I think they were incredibly lucky to get a shot at a series like Castlevania, especially considering their lack of experience.

This is very interesting if it's legitimate. You should post this in the Castlevania section.

I'm all for the Final Fantasy approach, as long as they finish the old canon first.

Why in the castlevania section?
Is about future game of MS.... is offtopic. And is no oficial info, in only a talk with a friend that work in MS, so decide not to put "oficial" and use Gossip word...

Well, if  the westerners would actually do something good and appropriate for the series, there wouldn't be a problem. There's no prejudice involved here. It's just that the westerners have not done good work with Castlevania in some of our opinions.

Then Konami has a serious problem with their "TRUE fans" because Konami does not think so and wanted to continue doing a prequel of LOS (in fact it is something that is not at all ruled out, although I would do another company and not be the next game).

We should make a petition online, I'm sure when were achieved 1,000,000 signatures, Konami would not hesitate to change their ideas and not to try to change the series. I wonder why all these Japanese companies are committed to changing their franchises, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix .... I'm sure it is a fad and has nothing to do with sales or market exhaustion symptoms.

Well, it also offers some insight in the future of Castlevania as well and some interesting behind-the-scenes information.

If you need it moved, let me know.
Right now I'm respecting the OP's desire to put it here.

Technically it is somewhat CV-related, but it's also gaming-related as they could do another franchise or their own thing.
Therefore, this probably would've fit better in Hardcore Gaming 101, as Off Topic is usually non-gaming.

Let me know what you wanna do though.  I can move it to CVGeneral or HG101. ;)

Interesting!!!
I hope they do get to finish IGA's timeline. /giddy

Another CV Japanese market exclusive.... really?  :(

Well since this is gossip, not everything is set in stone.
But at least we know that Konami will not kill the CV franchise, yet.

I can understand their enthusiasm, but what they did, was something far away from what the series are known, only names were there. Their work would have been more accepted and appreciated, if it was like the work of Retro Studios with Metroid. They took the game in 3D, in first view perspective, but the game play mechanics, they were similar to the 2D games, enchanced to fit the new 3D enviroment and game play style. You have seen what happened when Team Ninja took the licence to make a 3D metroid, while graphics were great and the story good, the game play, was similar to ninja gaiden in some cases, resulting in disappointment of funs. While i'm not a fan of first person view, i did enjoy Metroid Prime series and you know why? Because what i've played and seen was familiar.

Now, about a new Castlevania for handheld consoles, i can't say that i am excited, because we haven't seen a console game, since CoD and since there are so many 2D games on new consoles with amazing graphics, even 2.5D, i can't feel but only disappointed from Konami, which seems to continue their old policy, releasing every new game from the old canon for the handheld consoles and not giving a chance for a new 2D or 2.5D  game on home consoles. My final words?
