Topic: May 2017 Castlevania Dungeon Sprite Contest

Deadline for submissions: May 27th (11:59 PM PST)
Judgement: by tribunal and popular vote from May 27th to June 1st at midnight and Winners announced on June (whenever the all judges are done)

Volunteer Judges:

Theme: Design a familiar
Prizes: Award medals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Guidelines for Participants:
-Provide your sprite in 1x and 2x zoom at least if your sprite is small. (High resolutions sprites need not have a 2x version)
-Contestants can post as many entries as they want and may update their entries freely before the submission deadline.
-You may withdraw any entry at any time before the judgement begins.

Guidelines for Judges:
-Judgement will use a point system.
-4 points awarded for your first place choice.
-2 points awarded for your second place choice.
-1 point for your third place choice.
-When posting your scores write up an explanation/critique of your judgement.
-Additional rounds of judgement will be used for tie breakers.
-Judges cannot participate in the contest.
-There will be a poll to vote for the most popular sprite and this popular vote would serve as an extra judge.

Bloo's Weapons Master 2nd place
It'd be about half the size of a Human, and can shoot its weapons around like P EW.
It can also zip around to enemies and kinda blitz with its swords. Once it's leveled high enough it can duplicate for a short period of time and attack multiple enemies.


Dracula9's Wood Card 1st place

A giant bat capable of killing a grown-up man by its own.

Hello! For this contest, are the sprites required to be completely made from scratch? If not, can I ask what the guidelines on acceptable entries are?
This prompt is giving me a bunch of good ideas, and I'd love to enter.

To answer your question, yes, the sprites have to be your own.
If you are having trouble, you can use a base sprite to help you out. But the final product must look like it is an original.

I would like to enter the competition with the flying enemies for Spectral Interlude I'm retouching, they aren't going to be familiars in the game but lesser enemies, is that allowed?? My main goal as I stated before is not to change their original look too much (but 2 of them are a lot different now).

I'm sure it is OK since familiars can also possibly be enemies.
