I see this sort of field research having two outcomes; 1. Using a controlled Matter/Anti-matter reaction to create an almost unlimited supply of energy. Or 2. A bomb capable of rendering our planet as nothing more then a nest of asteroids.

In the same article one of the scientists said it was pretty much impossible to ever use anti-matter as a source of energy or weapon.
