Game crashed on me back in Stage 1 when I was in fullscreen. I alt-tabbed out to check a message, and when I alt-tabbed back in, the screen froze permanently, even though I could still control the game. I had to force-reset my computer since I couldn't get any window to appear on top of it anymore, not even the task manager.
I've been playing in windowed mode since and it's been running fine.
That being said, anyone got any tips for the damn Stage 5 boss?
I really hate this stupid push effect that the rain has. I was loving the game until this stage. From the instant-death portrait that they ripped from Rondo of Blood (which I also fuckin' hated), to the stupid push effect that the rain has that's caused me to jump to my death more than once, to the boss who I really just can't understand how to effectively fight.
I had all four characters at max health. I think I've gotten every stat increase so far in the game, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I got Alfred's supposedly super-powerful spell, so I go up to fight the boss. The boss is really high in the air, so I pick Miriam hoping her high-jump will give me some advantage but I can't hit the thing at all. Her triple-sword subweapon never appeared in the stage for me, either. Least not as far as I've seen (granted, I've been running around as Gebel blowing everything up for the weapon points).
When the boss does the sword thing into the ground that shoot out the electricity, I break some of them and use Alfred's super spell, but it doesn't really look like it hits much (I expected more out of a spell that supposedly could one-shot bosses, according to the website), and then right after, the boss used its huge wind thing to blow Miriam right off the stage and she died.
So I respawn and I'm grabbing the weapon points on the way back up, and the stupid wind effect pushes Zangetsu back when I'm jumping a gap, causing him to fall right in and die.
So now I'm stuck with just Alfred and Gebel, and I head up. I hope for the best with Gebel, and manage to hit the boss a couple times with his bat attack, but then I get blown right off the stage, same as Miriam. And good luck soloing anything with Alfred. Anyone got any tips on what to do?
My other thoughts on it?
-Despite having the retro aesthetic, the game manages to look REALLY nice.
-The music is fantastic, just like I was hoping it would be.
-I'm really surprised at how well Gebel plays. Considering he was the Alucard of the group, I was really expecting him to suck, but he's a LOT of fun. All four characters are really fun to play as and I'm hoping that you can restart the game with all four of them, cuz I want to do what I did in Castlevania 3 and do solo runs as each character. Though an Alfred-solo run is gonna be a fuckin' trial.
EDIT: Also, hey guys. Long time no talk. I've been lurking, even though I haven't posted in a really long while.
EDIT 2:
So I finally find the uppy-swordy subweapon for Miriam (which was in a lamp I previously broke as Alfred), so I feel good about this run. And then I'm walking and I get booped (as Miriam) off the stage and to my death. Welp, I finally got the weapon. Too bad I don't have Miriam anymore.
EDIT 3: Never mind I beat it. I didn't realize you can spam subweapons. I did that with Alfred and absolutely destroyed the boss.
