I'm considering running a tabletop game on roll20 and was talking with Lelygax about it, and got to wondering if anyone else here might be interested in giving it a try. For those who aren't familiar with Roll20 it's a free virtual tabletop, here's the old trailer for it to give you a quick idea.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3aNgqenfuUAlthough my games wouldn't use webcams/voicechat and would probably have basic grid maps with tokens for the player characters, npcs & monsters.
http://roll20.net/The game I'm considering playing is Swords & Wizardry Complete. A clone of D&D 0e, which is to say it's a clone of the rules of D&D that first came out in 1974, before "AD&D" (usually called "1e" since it was followed by "AD&D 2nd Edition") 5 years later. It's free in PDF and you can grab it here

here without having to make a drive thru rpg account. You can also take a look at the rules here, making quick reference easy
http://www.d20swsrd.com/The reason I'm interested in running a Retroclone rather than a new game is that I want something more rules lite with a heavier emphasis on roleplaying rather than "roll"playing. You can get an idea of what I mean in this essay
http://entertainment.lilithezine.com/Quick-Primer-for-Old-School-Gaming.html The fact that it's completely free and legal helps as well.
If people here are interested and we get it off the ground I might run the original "Ravenloft" modules, since S&W is largely compatible with AD&D1e stuff. Particularly the "Complete" edition of S&W (there are 3 versions of S&W) contains most of the material that came out in supplements during 0e's 5 year existence, which was later incorporated into AD&D, so it's a lot like a more rules-lite version of AD&D1e. And it is rules lite, if you read every part of the "for players" section except the 20 pages of spells, it's only about 50 pages. So you'd only need to remember 5 - 10 pages for whichever class/race you were playing, slightly more if you're a magic using class.
PS- Just so you know if I have a campaign I'll let you assign your 3d6 rolls for attributes in any order you want, and I'm pretty sure I'll remove the racial class restrictions. Because "balance" be damned it makes no sense that an Elf can't be a Druid.
