The game, in total, it was a hard-to-the-core, tough struggle against bugs, glitches, nuts and difficult settings that you must pay care about almost anything. Game over is an important part in this game's circle. (You need to game over in purpose in order to return to save area quickly)
Creepy graveyard area, falling sun, combined with BGM using creepy MIDI instrument, thus gave me a impression which is quite hard to forget.
Player can even transform to a bat even he's just an ordinary vampire hunter named Trevor!
It gave me a strong hit of head canon since Trevor Belmont wasn't available in vampire form until LoS universe. Or it was just some kind of magic spell (like Charlotte Aulin's) altogether.
The game length is
long. It even exceeded Simon's Quest in my process of comparison! (game-over-recovery time didn't count, if count it could be nothing but even longer)
When I reached the castle for the first time (It's the era that was without the guide's help, I made one-man crusade since all my friends had no interest in the game and can't help me either)
I thought the castle would be linear and the long struggle would be finally over...but what I thought was wrong. I still had to investigate 3 different part of the castle and cross my road in between the castle and outer area.
The real problem happened when I reached rose garden. I touched some keys on keyboard by accident and encountered a bug, I was not able to swing my whip out... crossed the giant (comically drawn!
) Rose but a closed door blocked my way... I turned to royal chapel but I still couldn't find a way to make progress (I missed a invisible wall! How did I know it was there!?!) then I ran out of heart, it would spent another 100 days to collect enough hearts to be able to defend enemies again... then I turned to check other part in lost garden but I still couldn't find the switch at all. Check 2 days. Nothing. Check 10 days. Nothing. Without a way to get out, I gave up at last and It became a long-time regret till now.
Now my long-time regret had been eased and I must thank you all again. After getting the guide I re-started my unfinished quest. My emotions are no different than the situation that I'm playing a 100% pure new game released in 2016~2017. Everything is so distant but after re-adjusting my control habit and OS it's also that familiar to me. After I get to the area where I originally got lost I think everyone who first play the game would lost there. After that, the game tells me it is still longer than what I originally thought few years ago. And even longer than what I thought using more current, modern thoughts.
It still has a long, 3-part final stage that you can't use recovery items and sub menu, without chance to rest and save, without chance to continue from final stage part 2 of final final stage, and you only have one chance to challenge. Character perish=game over=you lost everything and you must start from the save point in the castle and re-challenge from final stage part 1 all over again. That gave me lots of trouble since all the final stages and final final boss was unexpectedly tough, and I suffered from (possibly) glitch frequently (I encountered both 1 The final final boss ran away from the boss battle room and 2 my character ran away) which is the worst thing I suffered from a video game.
Still, I broke the fearful night and turned back to the light victoriously!
At last. Fellow dungeonites, thank you all!
