Thank you, Darkwzrd4. That's exactly how I feel about stealth. Optional, not manditory.

Whaaaaaaa????
The part in the lighthouse, I think, when you have to avoid the light.

Everything comes full circle

I REEEEAAAAAAALLY think you guys are overthinking the stealth thing. I bet at most, it'll be a couple 5-second sections of the game if that. That doesn't turn the game into a stealth game any more than the sections in LoS1 where you have to throw the spears at the Forgotten One turned that game into an FPS.

People are overthinking it. But it's also a forum. "Stealth" is kind of all we have talk about at the moment.

That hardly makes for a "stealth" section.

Something's telling me that stealth elements might turn up more often than you're making it out. MercurySteam wouldn't have listed them amongst Dracula's featured abilities if they weren't designed to weigh in on the gameplay in some way or another.
And honestly: if LoS2's self-proclaimed stealth abilities end up being relegated to one-shot minigame status, it'd be something of a disappointment.

I find it funny people are bitching about "stealth" when you are playing as a nocturnal predator to begin with. Also pro tip: There was stealth elements in LoS. Well, I don't really consider the first portion stealth, but the part where you had to sneak in to the kitchen and secondly when you had to hide from TFO.

It`s not going to become in: Tactical Espionage Action: Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Most likelly it will be for some short sections of the game or maybe one stage. Look at Hard Corps Uprising, a game that is a CrazyShoterPlatformer, how Contra should be, but Arcsystems made a good adaptation of Stealth in the 5th Stage and it worked really fine. We should wait and see what happens and how the things end when the game is done or when we can see any real gameplay of it.

Imagine for a second your dream car for 2014. Everything you could possibly want in a vehicle, it has. But there's this 1 thing: it doesn't play CD's nor does it have an AUX input, only cassette tapes. That'll most likely annoy the hell out of you. If not annoyed, then at least "uhh.. really? cassettes?" Drastic example, yeah, but point is, there's always gonna be stuff in life that's gonna make people say "wtf" especially if it's something they're looking forward to. I'm still annoyed that there's talk of stealth sections in this game. A game that's turning out great, but I'm not a diehard fan of the stealth-action genre, so seeing it in Castlevania obviously annoys me. And even so, if it just turns out to be like a quick small portion of the game then I'll be ok with that, and I'm sure everyone else that's "overreacting" will be too.

Don't act like none of you have never been in a similar situation, where something you're looking forward to has an aspect about it that makes you go wtf, and it annoys the hell out of you. As gamers, chances are we've all experienced this emotion at one point so it's kinda ironic how some here are like "ugh you guys will never be satisfied"

You'd think part of the blame here would go to MercurySteam for implementing a mechanic that was never seen or needed in the entire history of the franchise...
Just saying.

Unless you have some sort of access to the game unavailable to anyone else, you should refrain from calling a mechanic in the game unnecessary. You have no way of knowing if its needed or not. You have not played the game....

Just saying.

Is there some acceptance criteria for LoS2 that I never got? What makes stealth "unnecessary"? Who made that decision?

The way I see it, if I'm playing some weak ass Dracula at the beginning, it make sense that I can't always go in guns blazing. Not to mention the fact that vampires, you know, stalk.

I posted this in the last page, it should explain why some people are concerned by this:

I think most of the concern regarding the stealth mission (hell might as well throw in the inevitable escort mission with little Trevor or whoever else) is not that it's a stealth segment in an action game but rather that it's a stealth segment in a action game made by Mercurysteam. Who to a lot of people, don't really know how to implement game mechanics well, which is why hearing that there's  stealth segments in a Castlevania game starring Dracula has some people looking like .

I think if it is done right, it will prevail. There are still people who are angry about the Reboot, 3D gameplay, Trevorcard and etc. Of course we've all been in that situation. Metroid became FPS, No Xen in HL2 series and the Reboot of CV series was the cherry to the top. But yeah, sometimes there are things you can accept later on after you have the change grow on to you after you find the good in it. And there are people who won't not because they didn't give it chance, but they just didn't like 'something' about it overall...

Tactical Espionage Action: Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Now that I have been thinking about it after playing almost all of the MGS games and from what I've gathered from the MGSV trailers, Big Boss is... Dracula. The guy had good intentions but had his loved one taken away like Mathias/Gabriel, got betrayed a lot like Gabriel, Got his ass whooped a lot by the his enemies and came back from several comas like the resurrection cycle of Dracula. I played Peace Walker and thought about something they should do in the future games or should've done. Dracula has resurrected several times right? Lets just say he doesn't resurrect his Castle, decorates it and summons various armies and creatures by snapping his fingers. What if he was weak like modern day Gabriel weak and had to do lots of things in order to resurrect his castle such as take over small mansions, churches and then gained some powers from his experience and then resurrect the dead from the churches he took over and summon minions for tasks such as rebuilding the Castle to Magic Researching to Armies to Weapons forge. Minions would range from not just creatures to various undead but they would all be unique even within their races. And it doesn't just end there because different Dark Lords are competing against Dracula to gain power and you much teach them that YOU ARE THE ABSOLUTE POWAH!!!! This would take place around 1800s where the disappearance of Belmonts took place and now you know why...

That's the thing, to each their own man. While some may accept the idea of espionage & Dracula hiding from his enemies, others just don't feel that type of gameplay belongs. Just like how some people wouldn't wanna see a racing minigame thrown in but others may not mind it

Now lets stop this endless debate and give me a fucking kiss already *unloosens bowtie*
