I dunno Cox did state the we were going to control the dragon from pretty early in development...

This could have been that glorious final battle that now is the void in our hearts at the end of the game...

Considering the choatic development of the game, it is very possible a lot changed during the production of the game.

Cox might have been able to give advice or ideas, he's not the ultimate boss of MS.

Him saying we were going to 'control the dragon' could have been in relation to the Dragon Crest item, and Mercury Steam telling him "Yeah we're going to have an item that lets Dracula turn into a Dragon."

Optional bosses. Optional story elements. A seamless world. A game that matches LoS in scale and scope. Classic Castlevania music.

Let's add "controllable Dragon" to the list, shall we?

Castlevania 1 Dracula theme is definitely in the game.

I do not know the name of the track, but its part of the one that plays when you fight Inner Dracula, and it also shows up during the Kleidos Challanges.

EDIT: Its Enough Talk (Grand Battle) The theme starts at 32 seconds in.

The same song has the intro to "Tragic Prince" at 1:04

final los2 trailer: "BREAK THE CURSE OF IMMORTALITY"

I really do think the ending is the result of Konami suits getting greedy and not wanting the series to end. The entire game, the ENTIRE game, set Gabriel up to die and be redeemed at the end, but no, he's just happy to live being buddybuddy with Buddycard.

Bullshit.

Dracula outliving the Belmont clan is just not a fulfilling ending at all.

I used to be pretty upset about the way all three LOS games treated classic CV music. But I changed my mind after I realized it hadn't been that long since Konami released HoD. And its got like 30000 remixes. They were all pretty good in my opinion.
