Topic: Who plays Arcade games online?

I was just wondering if any of you play any of the arcade emulators online?

I am referring to Final Burn, Kawaks, Mame, etc.

This thread is made just because I am curious to see if anyone does in fact play, not neccesarily to invite anyone to do so with me, but nevertheless, if anyone wants to play any Capcom fighting games online with me then I'll be glad to.

Naw, I can't get MAME to work, so I therefore have not experienced Haunted Castle.

Mame..ahh..good ole' Mame.

Personally the only arcade games I care to play are SNK and Capcom games, so I never have the need to use Mame...which is pretty much a ram-hog emulator anyways >__>

nahhhh - There's far too many inconsistencies between the roms people have - you have to have the EXACT SAME dump as someone else. Besides Kailerra has some god awful facilities for looking for games, its just a huge random mess.

( and mame is easy CVfan13 - download mame -> Download mame roms to your roms folder -> run mame -> press F5 to audit all games and then double click the game - the tab button lets you into the button configuration menu you might also want to set the rom list to show only available too...

You make it sound so much more complicated then it is. I play Kaillera on a daily basis with no problem.

I dont' do it, but I'd be all about it if I could figure out how to get it to work. I don't know if they have a CPS emu for Mac or not, but maybe I'll check it out.

Honestly Haunted Castle is only a curiosity, it's hard as nails but not particularly entertaining. The art is nice but i cant see you getting much out of it.

If your going to invest in Mame look for things like Donpachi/Dodonpachi, Giga Wing, Progear and all the R-Types, oldskool shooters is where the arcade shines. Theres Golden axe and a few others like that too.

By all means try HC i have but there is Soooo much more out there, I'm still waiting for them to emulate Radiant Silvergun properly - It runs... but it runs like a drunk Slug

( As for Kailerra being complicated I didn't mean to make it sound like that, its rather easy infact. what i meant was the matchmaking is very very poor - the servers are just listed in any random unalphabetical order and the names given to them can be stupid/misleading or even unreadable, there is no way of searching for what games anyone in particular is running so you have to look through servers for a game you like or even have! that or run your own game until someone finds it and joins.. its terrible, the last version of Kailerra i tried the favourites " wasn't working for now ;-)" )

I would play more stuff online, but first I need to get one of those PS2 controller adapters that hooks into a PC. Any recommendations for one with the least lag?

I have no idea about the ps2 ones but I have a super smart joy so I can use my original Snes pad with emulators - Including MAME - there is zero lag whatsoever.

I got mine from Lik-Sang but that's long dead
